I’m Not His White Rose Anymore Chapter 12
This selection process was nationwide, but very few candidates were actually chosen by the higher-ups.
For cryptography and cybersecurity, there were fewer than twenty of us.
The assessment was in two parts: theory and practical.
In the end, less than half of the candidates passed both.
And I scored first in both theory and practical.
The professor looked at my results, his brow furrowing deeper and deeper.
I knew he wanted me to stay, to preserve the Hayes family line. But with my top scores, if he didn’t select me, he would be failing the country.
“Professor, I’m doing this voluntarily.”
The professor’s eyes suddenly reddened. He turned his back to me. “I’m not getting involved. If you’re really going, you leave in three days. The offer expires after that.”
I left with a smile.
In the hallway, I ran into a man in a lab coat complaining to a military officer.
“What’s the deal with this so-called medical expert you brought back from overseas? She failed basic pharmacology, and her practical skills are a disaster. Didn’t you guys hype her up to be some kind of genius? You even assigned her special protection…”
“I know you guys value talent, but not every person who’s studied abroad is a real expert!”
They walked past quickly, and I didn’t catch everything, but I recognized the man in the lab coat. He was the leader of the medical team for the Nevada facility, a renowned M.D. with a Ph.D.
