My Choice: A War God vs A Fake Dragon Chapter 08
Chapter 8 The Lightning That Chose For Me
He frowned. “What?”
I repeated it. “I do not want you to become Dragon King.”
The eighty-first bolt suddenly changed.
It sharpened.
It roared down with terrifying force and struck Cassian full on.
This time, a single bolt was enough.
He collapsed where he stood.
God had no patience left for him. With that last strike, he completely stripped Cassian of his magical cultivation.
Cassian’s soul began to break apart.

At the edge of death, he stared at me in disbelief. “Mira… why? We were together for a thousand years. Don’t you love me anymore?”
I shook my head. “I stopped loving you long ago.”
The moment he gave that water crystal to my sister.
The moment he abandoned me for power.
The moment he had me cut to pieces.
Whatever love I once carried for him had already vanished with the wind.
I bent close and whispered into his ear, “I’ve wanted you dead for a very long time.”
Then Cassian vanished completely.
The Dragon Queen, having now lost both of her sons, fainted on the spot.
The Dragon King looked at me with an expression so complicated it was almost unreadable.
There was grief there. Resentment. Helplessness.
In the end, he said nothing of it.
He bent down, picked up the fallen crown, brushed away the dust, and spoke heavily. “One son died in battle. The other was struck down for the rot in his heart.”
He looked at the crown in his hands as if it had become unbearably heavy. “I no longer have the right to remain Dragon King.”
Then he lifted his eyes to Kael. “Now there is only one person left in this clan who is worthy to inherit.”
“To prevent further chaos, I will pass the throne to you tomorrow.”
Kael turned to me.

He knew I had never cared for rules or cages, no matter how beautiful they were made to seem.

But the clan was already collapsing. Without a king to steady them, they would soon tear themselves apart.
So I gave him a small nod.
Only then did he answer. “I accept.”
Two thousand years later, Kael entrusted the throne to a carefully chosen successor.
Before long, he and I broke through our magical realms simultaneously. Our power rivaled that of the gods, yet ultimately, we chose to abandon any further pursuit of magic.
In a sea of blossoms, Kael carried me on his back and asked with all the tenderness in the world, “So where do you want to go next, love?”
I looked ahead, smiling. “Anywhere.”
As long as you are there.
