A Heart for a Heart Chapter 06
I laughed icily, before snapping, “Parnoid?! You’re still lying to me even now! You staged that accident and worked with the medical staff to deceive me while you took away my son’s heart and handed it off to the son you had with Sue! Did you really think I’d never find out?!”
I flung the evidence at his face, and he turned pale while he saw what it was.
Sue had her hand over his mouth too, gaping at him in shock as she realized the truth was out.
However, James didn’t give up and scanned through it, but everything was there-his conversations with Sue, Nathan’s medical records, camera footage of James at the scene of the accident, and even him arranging for my womb to be surgically removed.
All of it made it very clear that I knew about the plot he had hatched and carried out for years.
Even as his breathing turned rough and panic showed visibly in his eyes, he grabbed my shoulders and exclaimed “I-It’s all fabricated, to drive us apart! You have to believe me, Wanda… You know how good I’ve been to you and Stan! Why would I do this?”
I laughed again. “Right, you were so good to us that we thought you were the best husband and father there is until I heard you talking to that doctor about your plans.”
At that moment, I clearly felt James’ grip loosen and slip from my shoulders, “You planned that accident just to take away Stan’s heart and give it to Nathan, to save him from his heart condition! You planned our son’s death! Even though you’ve been good to him, it’s all alms given out of guilt!
“You were the one who told the doctor to remove my womb! Not only did you take my son away, but you denied me the chance to become a mother again!”
James tried to argue, but his mouth hung open without any words coming up.
I laughed coldly in turn and glared at them, as if to skin them alive. “You said Nathan is your only child, while I’m going to be Mrs. Frost forever?! Go fuck yourself! I will avenge Stan-even if I go broke and ruin my own reputation! You will both pay for this with blood!”
Sue cringed involuntarily, spooked by the burning hatred in my eyes.
I laughed quietly at that. “You were both in this together. Did you think I’d let your son live after all that?!”
“No!” Sue shrieked right then. “You think you can charge us?! Who do you think James is?! You know his family- his influence, his wealth! You are his wife, so you should know better than me!
“I’m warning you-if you try anything funny, no one can save you! James and I will make you pay if you hurt Nathan!”
James, however, closed his eyes as if in pain. “I’m sorry, Wanda. I’ve betrayed your trust-yours and Stan’s.”
Sue promptly tried to cut him off. “What are you saying, James?! How could you admit it just like that?!”
James ignored her and simply continued. “I know you’ll never forgive me no matter what I do, but just give me a chance–I will spend the rest of my life making amends, but Nathan is just a child. He’s innocent.”
“Make amends?!” I laughed sardonically. “How?!”
Tears were welling up in James’ eyes. “I’m sorry, Wanda…”
“Tell that to Stan!”
