I Loved the Heir in Disguise Chapter 03

I Loved the Heir in Disguise Chapter 03

After I decided to leave, I talked to the landlord about ending the lease early.

There was nothing valuable in our cramped studio apartment.

I pulled out all the couple items that connected me to Jace.

Two chipped mugs.

Matching cheap keychains.

A plastic ring he had bought me at a night market stall.

And the sticky notes we had stuck on the refrigerator together.

I put them into a black garbage bag one by one.

My phone vibrated, and today’s trending headlines popped up.

[#Kingsley heir spends $30 million on lake-blue diamond for fiancée]

I lowered my eyes and slowly took off the plain ring on my ring finger.

When Jace first confessed to me, he had even used a soda can tab.

He said he would buy me a real ring when he made money later.

But for the girl he truly loved, nothing was too expensive.

Thirty million dollars for a blue diamond, and he did not even blink an eye before buying it.

I picked up the large bag of memories shared between Jace and me and threw it into the public dumpster without hesitation.

On the way to my flower shop, I received a rush order from a nearby hotel.

Before I could think, my finger had already pressed accept out of habit.

All these years, I had scrimped and saved to build up our wedding savings fund.

But every time we were almost there, Jace would find various excuses to transfer the money away.

One year, two years, then three years.

I signed up for every flower delivery app I could find.

I took every job I could: delivering flowers, running errands, moving goods, late-night shopping errands.

I never missed a single chance to make money.

Afraid that I would have to wait even longer for Jace to marry me.

I resigned myself and went to CVS Pharmacy to buy a box of condoms as the order requested.

When I arrived at the door of the luxury penthouse suite, a familiar voice came from inside.

My finger froze on the doorbell.

The next second, the door opened.

The person standing inside was Jace’s fiancée.

Vivienne Whitmore.

She wore a silk robe, her long hair loose over her shoulders, her makeup perfect as if she had just stepped off a magazine cover.

She took the bag with a light smile and glanced at me out of the corner of her eye.

In that instant, I suddenly realized she had done this on purpose.

She did not close the door tightly.

So that I could see exactly what was happening inside the room.

The shopping bag slipped from my hand and landed gently on the carpet.

The ambiguous sound of kissing stabbed my nerves.

Vivienne wrapped her arms around Jace’s neck coquettishly, her eyes staring at me challengingly.

“Jace, I don’t mind you keeping a little girl on the side.”

“But you must remember, you must never have an illegitimate child.”

The man let out a low laugh.

That laugh was as cold and thin as a knife, piercing straight through my heart.

“Don’t worry.”

“She’s sweet and obedient.”

“I told her I’m allergic to latex, and she pities me too much to use protection.”

“She’s gotten pregnant five times, and she’s obediently gotten rid of the baby every time.”

I did not dare to listen to another word after that.

I fled into the elevator and rushed out of the hotel as fast as I could.

It was not until I ran back to the flower shop that I finally felt like I had come back to life.

But before I could catch my breath, two black armored SUVs stopped at the door.

A group of men in black jackets walked in carrying metal bats.

They did not say a single word.

They directly flipped over the refrigerated display cases and flower racks.

Shards of glass flew everywhere.

The floor was covered with crushed flower petals and scattered flower mud.

Rage flared up in my heart. I bent down and grabbed the self-defense baton kept under the counter.

The leader was not afraid of me at all.

He held a cigarette between his lips and smiled wickedly, blowing a puff of smoke right into my face.

I coughed violently from the smoke.

The self-defense baton in my hand was immediately snatched away forcefully.

The man slammed a promissory note on the table harshly.

“Jace owes us sixty thousand dollars.”

“Aren’t you his woman?”

“Pay it for him.”

I clenched my fists and stepped back, my heart turning cold little by little.

Was Jace really that afraid that I would save up enough wedding savings and force him to marry me?

Afraid enough to even stage this kind of scene?

When the man saw that I dared to dodge, he signaled to the men beside him.

Two underlings immediately stepped forward and pinned me to the ground.

My head banged hard against the cold ground.

Stars burst in front of my eyes instantly, and I was in so much pain that I lost all strength in my body.

The man forcibly took my phone from me, made me unlock it, and transferred all the money in my account away.

I forced a bitter smile, and tears gradually welled up in my eyes.

The account balance was zero.

Only then did the man let go of my hand.

My head was still dizzy. I lay weakly on the floor covered with flower petals and broken glass.

The men spat and prepared to leave.

But just as they lifted their feet to leave, the leader’s phone suddenly vibrated.

After he answered the call, his face changed slightly.

The next second, he suddenly glared at me fiercely and slapped my face hard.

A strong metallic taste of blood filled my mouth instantly.

Before I could cry out in pain, the second slap landed immediately.

Once.

Again.

A total of ninety-nine times.

The beating made my ears ring, and darkness kept closing in on my vision.

On the verge of losing consciousness, I heard the man say obsequiously into the phone.

“Don’t worry, Jace.”

“Her face is so swollen she won’t be able to show her face in public.”

“I promise she won’t go out for three months.”

“And she definitely won’t disturb your wedding to Vivienne.”

I forced a bitter smile to myself.

Tears kept streaming down my face.

Why bother?

I was going to leave soon anyway.
