Life Swapped, Sister’s Downfall Chapter 05
I felt a chill run through me. What exactly was Emma plotting this time?
Come back to the country to make money with me? Nonsense. Emma was definitely up to no good-probably trying to harm me. I’d have to stay extra vigilant from now on.
When Emma appeared in front of me with Axel, my heart froze. Memories of last life’s abuse came rushing back My face went pale, and my hands and feet trembled uncontrollably.
“Axel, this is the sister I always talk about-my dear little sister, Harper.”
Axel looked well-dressed and refined on the surface, but his eyes roamed over me with a lecherous gleam.
I wanted nothing to do with them. I tried to walk away, but Emma blocked me.
“Harper, I heard from Mom that you secretly came to university. Isn’t the whole point of studying to make money? Look at me-I didn’t study, and I’m making money just fine!”
“Congratulations, then. I have classes, so I won’t bother you.
I hadn’t even taken two steps before she grabbed my arm again.
“Harper, I’m not petty. We’re sisters, and money should be shared. Mom and I have already agreed-you’ll come to Zandumore with us and make money too. Pack your things; in two weeks, you’ll leave.”
“No! I won’t go!”
Iyanked my arm free and tried to flee. But Axel pressed his hands onto my shoulders, pinning me against a wall. His broken English hissed in my ears, “With me… island… money.”
Even reborn, his mere presence made my stomach turn.
I jerked my head to the side, mustering all my strength, and shoved him back. “Don’t touch me!” I barked.
I ignored them both and ran back to university. I didn’t notice the cold, murderous glare following me from
behind.
Since Emma’s return, my life had grown increasingly tense.
In my past life, she had dared to try to kill me. In this life, she would no doubt try to push me into hell again.
No matter how cautious I was, treachery was impossible to avoid entirely. And inevitably… I fell into their trap.
One stormy night, the rain pouring in sheets, I was walking home from work when the streets emptied.
A shadow lunged from a dark alley. A hand clamped over my mouth, dragging me to a secluded spot.
Despite his black clothes and mask, I knew that scent anywhere.
Axel.
He towered over me, savoring my fear. I knew struggling would only excite him more.
“This is Pehlo, not your country,” I spat. “You think you can do whatever you want here?”
Axel’s interest piqued when I spoke Zandumorian.
“So… you speak Zandumorian? How did you recognize me?”
I glared at him. “Emma warned me about you. She told me everything you did to her. She’s back now, and she’ll never be at your mercy on Zandumore again.”
Axel’s face darkened. He grabbed my neck. “She’s naturalized Zandumorian. How does she expect to escape me?”
“Emma said one day she would.”
“Ha! Let her try! But now… I’m more interested in you!”
His filthy hands moved to strip me.
“Try it, and see what happens! There are cameras here, and I’ve already called the police!”
I calmly pulled out my phone. The screen showed 911-line connected.
“You’re bold!” he snarled, shoving me aside as he fled. I collapsed to the ground, my body shaking.
I told myself quietly, ‘It’s over. He wouldn’t dare touch me again.’
Back at my apartment, I couldn’t stop running to the bathroom to vomit.
Even with a second chance at life, the nausea Axel brought me in my past life hadn’t faded one bit.
