The Impostor’s Time Is Over Chapter 08
Selena’s hair was soaked with sweat, and they stuck to her forehead like glue.
Her dainty face now looked completely drained of all color, and she was wrought with fear and despair.
Even Justin, a family member, had one of his arms broken. Meanwhile, she was just a foster kid whom we’d picked up and brought home. Obviously, her impending fate was going to be even worse than that of Justin’s.
Mom shook her head in disappointment. She was so mad that she didn’t even know where to start.
“Selena, have we ever treated you horribly from the moment you stepped into our family?
“You had everything Sabrina had, so why did you have to repay our kindness with such evil? How could you say such terrible things like slashing Sabrina’s face and pulling her tongue out?”
Selena glared at Mom with hatred in her eyes. Then, she scoffed coldly and shot back in return, “Do you even hear yourself? Dare you repeat your words if you had even a little bit of conscience left?”
“The person Alvin loved all along is me! Me! But you refused to let me go out with him! You said that I didn’t deserve him!
“You only said that because you wanted Sabrina to marry him! And yet, you dare say that you never treated me horribly at all?”
Mom just kept shaking her head in disappointment.
I couldn’t stand it any longer and raised my hand in the air before slapping Selena in the face. Then, I yelled, “You weren’t the only one who heard that from Mom. Mom said the same words to me, too!
“Mom knew all along that Alvin was a terrible character, and marrying him would only cause us to regret it for the rest of our lives!
“But even if that were not the case, so what if Mom only told you that?
“If Mom and Dad never brought you home, you probably wouldn’t even be around anymore! You might even have ended up dead in a ditch somewhere. You’d never have been able to enjoy this lifestyle in the first place!
“Still, who would have thought that you’d end up being such an ingrate and bite the hand that fed you, to the point that you’d hate us all?”
Selena was stunned to hear this. She stared at Mom in a daze as remorse began showing in her eyes.
When she finally understood the truth, she lowered her head and said nothing more.
A short while later, however, Selena suddenly started laughing like a madwoman, throwing all of us off balance.
Theh, she suddenly produced a penknife and lunged for me, meaning to kill.
Dad reacted just in time and grabbed my arm, yanking me out of harm’s way. Then, he lifted his foot and kicked Selena away.
Four bodyguards immediately rushed up to hold her down.
However, Selena just pointed the tip of the blade toward her own chest and drove the sharp edge into her heart, right under our very eyes.
She then sank to the ground in a pool of her own blood, twitching a little until she finally stopped moving
altogether.
I couldn’t feel the slightest bit of empathy for her. At this moment, I only thought she was a pitiful person.
Still, perhaps this was for the better. From now on, nobody would ever be able to take my place again.
