He Drugged Me On Our Wedding Day And Married His Ex Instead Chapter 05

Grant’s mind went blank for a second, like he didn’t process what he’d just heard.

He turned his head slowly. “What did you say?”

The guy immediately shut up.

Grant grabbed the phone himself and opened it.

On the screen was a marriage license photo and my name was right there.

The color drained from his face in an instant.

Sabrina glanced at it, barely hiding her smile.

“She was never going to be satisfied, was she?[] She’s the one making a big deal out of

nothing, and now she’s gone off and married someone else?”

“Grant, just drop it. She was already punching above her weight with you.”

The others jumped in right away.

“Yeah, man. She was probably keeping Declan Hartwell on the hook the whole time. Pretending to

be loyal to you while lining up her next rich guy.”

“Just let it go. Girls like that are everywhere. She’s probably just trying to get back at you for the wedding with Sabrina. Honestly, she’s kind of twisted.”

“Come on, let’s keep drinking. Forget her.”

“AH!” Sabrina suddenly screamed.

In the next second, Grant kicked the table over.

Glasses shattered across the floor, alcohol soaking the room.

By the time everyone reacted, Grant was already gone.

He sped down the road, calling me over and over again.

No answer.

He arrived at the courthouse, but there was no sign of me.

Then the messages started flooding in.

[Are you insane? Why would you marry Declan Hartwell?]

[Are you seriously destroying yourself just to get back at me? You think he actually wants you? He’s just trying to mess with me!]

[Emily Bennett, pick up the phone!]

When I still didn’t respond, he started calling everyone who knew me.

[Emily, Grant’s lost it. He’s harassing everyone. He’s begging people to reach you.]

[I almost laughed when I got his call.]

[I’ve never seen him this pathetic. After what he did at that wedding, he really didn’t treat you like a

person.]

[I thought you’d stay quiet forever.]

[Good job, Emily.]

My friends sent congratulations, even asking when my wedding party would be.

I smiled and replied to them one by one.

Declan placed a plate of sliced steak in front of me.

“What’s so funny?”

“Watching Grant Whitmore lose his mind.”

Declan leaned in, curious, and looked at my phone with me.

When our shoulders touched, my thoughts drifted back.

Back then, he was the only one who ever stood up for me,

He couldn’t stand what those people were doing to me, so he transferred me to another school and got me out of that hell.

Later, when I couldn’t keep up academically, he tutored me without hesitation.

When I got overwhelmed and wanted to quit, he’d knock me on the head and say, “Emily Bennett, invest in yourself. What are you even doing if you’re just going to stay stuck in Red Creek Hollow?”

His words snapped me back into reality, so I pushed myself harder than anyone else.

Day and night. And somehow, I made it.

After graduation from high school, he confessed his feelings to me.

Those three months were the most surreal part of my life.

All my firsts were with Declan.

He promised we’d attend the same university in the same city.

But right before school started, I found out he had never planned to stay in the country.

I didn’t listen to his explanation or accept his apology. I just kicked him out in rage.

To me back then, he wasn’t different from the people who had humiliated me.

I was too young and naive to understand what it meant for him to fight against his family just to

stay.

All I could see was my own pain.

After that, I cut him off completely.

I went to college, entered competitions, and started internships.

And in my senior year, I met Grant again.

As if he didn’t remember anything from the past, he pursued me relentlessly.

Flowers, chocolates. Then endless jewelry, bags, everything.

But I never felt anything.

Only one thought ever crossed my mind-If Declan saw this, he’d probably be furious.

So I let myself fall into it anyway, into Grant.

After three years with him, it would be a lie to say I had no feelings for him.

Sometimes I really thought I was about to love him, but everything he did always felt like a bucket

of ice water dumped over my head.

So accepting Declan had never been about ruining myself.

She poured her fortune into his company. He climbed into bed with his ex for…

It was getting what I once wanted, and being with him was the real revenge on Grant.

Now that I came to my senses, it was time to return to where I belonged.
