After my family abandoned me—I sold my emotions for 800,000 Chapter 14
No one should be this much of a greedy,
profiteering scammer–hell, they shouldn’t
even come close.
I ranted a million curses inside my head, but
still couldn’t stop myself from saying, “Name your price. Let’s hear it.”
After all, I really didn’t lack money these
days. Eight hundred thousand was barely
enough to buy a single handbag for me
now…
“Eight million.”
“What?!” I flew into a rage.
“If you don’t want it, we can forget the
whole thing.” Jasper turned to leave.
“Don’t be like that.” The girl tugged at
Jasper’s sleeve, “Ms. Thornton has been
through so much to get where she is. I think
five million is already more than enough.”
“No deal.”
“Listen to me.”
The girl looked over at me, “Ms. Thornton, we’re fated to meet. How about this? I’ll give you a 20% discount, plus a complimentary lifetime storage service.
You can leave your feelings stored here first,
and pick them up whenever you need them.
If you go through another painful experience and want to store them again later, you can reach out to us anytime.”
She also handed me a business card, with
Sloane Pierce printed on the front.
That sounded like an absolute steal….
“This is too much of a hassle. I’m not
selling.” Jasper tugged Sloane along, “Let’s
go,”
As they tussled back and forth, I barked
sharply, “Three million, and that’s my final
offer!”
Sloane pushed Jasper away, “Deal.”
And just like that, I successfully bought my own feelings back at a steep discount.
On my way home, I was floating on air. I couldn’t wait to brag to Lucien about it, “I just went to buy something, guess what? I haggled the price all the way down from
eight million to three million!”
Lucien said, “That’s my brilliant wife. Wait, what’s the actual cost of that item, anyway?”
Cost? Wait a minute–they’d bought that exact same thing from me originally, hadn’t they?
I stopped dead in my tracks.
Damn it! They ripped me off again!
