Hearing My Husband’s Secret Thoughts, and Let Karma Find Him Chapter 01
I was famous in the old-money billionaire circuit as a spoiled drama princess. If the slightest thing didn’t go my way, I’d cuss out God himself if I felt like it.
Because the cherries hadn’t been pitted, I kicked over the $20,000 custom rosewood coffee table in front of me.
My husband, Ryan Lawson, didn’t get angry. Instead, he half-knelt in the mess on the floor and carefully lifted my foot to check it.
“Did you hurt yourself? Next time you’re mad, take it out on me. Don’t hurt yourself.”
The next second, his voice rang through my head without warning.
[Go ahead. Throw your tantrum.]
[Once your father dies and Apex Group goes bankrupt, I’d love to see how you keep acting like this.]
[By then, you’ll be kneeling on the floor like a dog, begging me.]
I froze halfway through pulling my foot back.
Ryan looked up at me, his eyes so tender they practically melted.
“Your ankle’s red. Let me rub it for you, baby, okay?”
I stared at him and slowly pulled my foot away.
The game had finally gotten interesting.
Since he wanted to play it this way, I didn’t mind showing him exactly who would end up on a leash.

For the past three years, everyone had said I had it made: a spoiled heiress with a rotten temper who had somehow married a broke man willing to put up with anything from me.
For his sake, I had even forced my father to hand Apex Group’s core projects over to him.
So he had been plotting to steal my family’s fortune all along.
I forced down the disgust churning in my stomach and pulled my foot back.
“Forget rubbing it. Hurry up and have someone clean this mess. I can’t stand looking at it.”
“Okay, okay. Anything you want, baby.” He stood up.
The front door opened, and Ryan’s secretary, Summer Lane, walked in.
She was holding a stack of documents. When she glanced at the broken glass on the floor, her mouth twitched in disdain.
Then she smoothed her face into a respectful expression.
“Mr. Lawson, Mrs. Lawson, there are urgent documents that need your signature.”
Ryan walked over and took the documents from her. His voice sounded in my head again.
[Look at Summer—she always knows how to behave! Not like this idiot who just makes me sick. I can’t stand being around her anymore. Maybe tonight I should make it up to Summer properly.]
My eyes widened, and my hands clenched into fists.
Summer walked over to the coffee table and deliberately kicked a shard of glass aside with her foot.
“Mrs. Lawson really has a temper. A $20,000 table, smashed just like that. Mr. Lawson stays up late every day at the office for a few hundred thousand dollars in profit. I honestly feel bad for him.”
I pointed at the juice on the floor.
“If you feel that bad for him, why don’t you clean this up for the housekeeper? And remember, I don’t like mops. Use a rag and wipe it clean inch by inch.”
Summer frowned and turned to Ryan.
Ryan sounded helpless. “Tessa, Summer is one of the company’s key people, not a housekeeper. A woman from a family like yours is supposed to have manners. Stop being so willful, all right?”
[Once I drain Apex dry, I’ll dump you in a high-end escort club and make you take clients. Then you’ll learn what manners are.]
Listening to his thoughts, I slowly unclenched my hands.
He wanted to see me ruined? Fine. I didn’t mind finding out who would be ruined in the end.
I stood up and looked at them.
“If she’s such a key person, then I’ll visit your subsidiary tomorrow and see exactly how capable she is.”
Ryan opened his mouth, about to speak, when my phone vibrated.
When I answered, a nurse from the hospital spoke on the other end.
“Ms. Sullivan! Your father has suffered a sudden brain hemorrhage. He’s in the ICU right now. Please come immediately!”
My phone fell onto the carpet. I stood frozen in place, my hands trembling.
Ryan grabbed my arm to steady me and shouted, “Get the car! Hurry, get the car and take us to the hospital!”
But his thoughts rang in my ears.
[Good. The old bastard is finally dying. Apex Group is about to become a Lawson company.]
