After Amnesia, I Thought My Mafia Ex-Husband Was My Boss Chapter 06

After Amnesia, I Thought My Mafia Ex-Husband Was My Boss Chapter 06

Damian began acting very strangely.

He stopped mocking me.

Instead, he often stood in the shadows and

watched me.

It was like he was trying to figure out whether I had really lost my memory or was setting another trap.

On the weekend, he said he was taking Luca

to the amusement park.

Before leaving, he suddenly looked at me.

You’re coming too.”

I paused.

I’m going too? Will that come out of my

pay?”

Mm.”

Luca immediately curled his lip.

I don’t want her to go.

Damian frowned.

Luca.”

She doesn’t want to be with me anyway!”

Luca’s eyes turned red. She doesn’t care

about me at all!”

I stood there, too awkward to speak.

Honestly, he wasn’t wrong.

Vera quickly spoke.

I’ll go with Luca. Let Eliana rest at home.”

Damian glanced at me but said nothing.

The three of them left.

I sat in the West Wing living room and

watched TV.

I felt much more at ease.

In the afternoon, Luca made a video call.

I answered and saw him sitting on a

carousel.

Look! I’m riding the carousel! He smiled

happily.

I nodded.

Is it fun?”

Yeah! Aunt Vera went on so many rides

with me!”

Vera smiled and waved beside him.

Luca suddenly lowered his voice.

It would be great if Aunt Vera were my

mom.”

This child really had been spoiled rotten.

Good thing I didn’t actually feel like his

mother.

I only smiled.

Then you should listen to Ms. Winter.”

Luca froze.

It seemed he had not expected me to say

that.

He glanced at Damian beside him.

Damian’s face looked terrible.

You’re not angry?Luca asked.

Why should I be angry?I said. Play with

whoever you like.”

Luca’s tears suddenly fell.

Damian took the phone and ended the call.

That night, they came back.

Luca held a balloon.

His eyes were red.

Vera was also very quiet.

Only Damian kept staring at me.

During dinner, he suddenly said, Vera took

very good care of Luca today.”

He paused.

Unlike some people.”

I was drinking soup.

My hand paused slightly.

Vera quickly said, Damian, don’t say that.”

I’m telling the truth. He looked at me. Some people no longer care about their

own child.”

I set down the spoon and said calmly, Ms. Winter is good with him.”

Damian’s dinner knife dropped onto the table.

He stared at me.

Disbelief filled his eyes.

That’s your answer?”

What am I supposed to say?”

He stood up sharply.

The chair scraped against the floor with a sharp, grating sound.

You can stop caring just because you don’t remember? Luca is your son. How can you be so cold?”

Luca suddenly jumped down from his chair and ran to me.

You really don’t care about me anymore, do you?”

I didn’t speak.

I was afraid I would upset him even more.

He cried even harder.

I said I wanted Aunt Vera to be my mom,

and you weren’t even sad. Do you wish I

wasn’t your son?”

I panicked.

That’s not what I meant.”

Then what did you mean?”

He ran upstairs, crying.

Damian stood there.

His voice trembled slightly.

You really don’t care anymore?”

Vera looked at me too.

I could only say, I’m just the housekeeper. Am I supposed to care? You’re not confusing me with that foolish woman, are you? We

only happen to have similar names. I’m not her.”

Damian’s face went bloodless.

He turned and chased upstairs.

Luca’s crying came from above.

Dad, does Mommy not want me anymore?”

No. Mommy just isn’t well.”

But she looks at me like I belong to

someone else.”

I stood downstairs, unable to name what I felt. Maybe it was sadness, but only a little.

In the middle of the night, I got up to drink

water.

When I passed the master bedroom, I heard a

voice inside.

Doctor, it really may be traumatic

amnesia.”

It was Damian on the phone.

She has no reaction to Luca at all. She is

nothing like before: She used to care so

much.”

She might never remember?”

His voice broke.

No. That’s impossible. She can’t forget

me.”

She can’t just stop loving me.”

I stood outside the door and felt a faint,

distant pity.

Men like him only learned to care after they

had already lost what they had.

How pathetic.
