After Amnesia, I Thought My Mafia Ex-Husband Was My Boss Chapter 03
Over the next few days, Damian grew colder and colder toward me.
I didn’t care.
I was only the live-in nanny-housekeeper. I just needed to do my job well. Once my body recovered a little, I would find a chance to quit. I refused to work a live-in job for free.
At noon, I made lunch in the kitchen.
Luca sat in the living room building a model.
When he saw me come out, he immediately turned his face away.
Vera Winter sat on the couch in a pale dress.
She gave me a gentle smile.
“Eliana, do you need help?”
I shook my head.
“No, thank you, Ms. Winter.”
Her smile stiffened slightly.
When lunch was ready, I brought the food to the table.
Shrimp fried rice.
And a plate of greens.
Luca glanced at it and curled his lip.
Vera scooped rice onto his plate.
“Luca, eat a little more.”
“Aunt Vera’s food tastes better,” he muttered.
I stood beside them, feeling awkward.
Damian came back from outside.
Two Moretti enforcers followed him.
When he saw the food on the table, he frowned.
“That’s it?”
I nodded.
“Yes.”
He sneered and sat down to eat.
Luca ate two bites of fried rice.
Then he suddenly clutched his stomach.
“Luca?” Vera quickly held him.
His face flushed, and a rash quickly spread across his neck.
Damian’s expression changed instantly.
He picked Luca up and rushed out.
“To the private clinic!”
I panicked too and followed them out.
In the car, Damian drove himself.
He drove so fast it felt like we were being chased by enemies.
I sat in the back seat and watched Luca struggle through the allergic reaction.
For some reason, my chest tightened.
At the Moretti family’s private clinic, the doctor gave Luca an injection and confirmed it was a shrimp allergy.
Damian turned to look at me.
His stare pinned me in place.
“You gave him shrimp?”
I went blank.
“I didn’t know he was allergic.”
“You didn’t know?” He sneered. “You’re his mother. How could you not know?”
His tone made my face go pale.
“But I really don’t remember.”
“Still acting.” He cut me off. “Eliana, how long are you going to keep using this to punish me?”
I shook my head.
“I’m not.”
“Enough.”
He turned and entered the hospital room.
He left me alone in the hallway.
Vera walked over and sighed softly.
“Eliana, I know you’re hurting.”
I looked at her.
I didn’t understand what she was getting at.
She continued, “But using Luca’s health to test Damian went way too far.”
“I wasn’t testing anyone.”
“You don’t need to explain it to me.” She smiled gently. “I think you should give up. Damian has already given up on you. No matter how hard you act, it won’t work.”
After saying that, she turned and walked into the hospital room.
I stood in the hallway with my mind blank.
After returning to the estate, I looked up my name online.
The first headline read:
Randall Heiress Marries Into the Moretti Family. Seven-Year Marriage Rumored to Be Falling Apart.
The news said Eliana Randall was the only heir to Randall Shipping Group.
Seven years ago, she went against her family’s wishes and married Damian.
At the time, he was only the underboss of the Moretti family.
After the wedding, she stepped away from the shipping company her father left her and devoted herself to life at the estate.
Damian used the Randall family’s docks, money, and connections.
Step by step, he became the Don of the Moretti family.
Three years ago, Eliana’s parents died in an accident.
She inherited a huge estate and shares in the shipping company.
Recently, rumors said the two of them had signed divorce papers.
I stared at the news.
For a moment, my mind went blank.
My first reaction was simple: the old Eliana had seriously lost her mind.
She had money, a company, and family connections.
Why would she trap herself inside an estate over a mafia man?
