He Forced My Parents to Death 15 Years Ago-Now I Let Him Go To Prison Fate Chapter 06

Dale staggered to his feet and roared, “Everybody shut up.”

“Every piece of equipment in this building is paid for. I tear it out and sell it used, I’ve still got enough to cover

what I owe you.”

He shoved past two men and yelled at his crew. “What are you waiting for? Get the sledgehammers. We’re

taking everything out of these walls.”

The workers glanced at each other. They wanted to get paid. They grabbed the hammers.

Right before they swung, I raised my hand, calm, deliberate. On cue, security stepped forward from both

sides of the hall.

A dozen security guards had been waiting for this moment. They rushed forward and blocked the workers.

I pulled another document from my folder, this one stamped with the county seal, and raised it high.

To make sure everyone in the hall could hear me clearly, II picked up a bullhorn, my voice ice-cold. “As of ten

a.m. this morning, the old campus officially belongs to the county redevelopment department.”

“Under the transfer agreement, every fixture in this building is now public property.”

“If anyone damages public property, security has the authority to detain you and hand you straight to the

police.”

The workers lowered their hammers.

Dale watched his last hope disappear.

He couldn’t take the equipment. He couldn’t tear out the walls. Everything he owned, his savings, his loans,

his future, was welded into those walls forever.

His eyes went bloodshot. Rage took over.

He grabbed a sledgehammer from one of his men and swung it at my head. “I’ll kill you right now, you bitch!”

The sledgehammer came straight down toward my head. I stood there without even blinking.

The head of security stepped in and kicked Dale in the stomach so hard he flew backward. Before he could

get up, three guards had him pinned face-down on the floor.

The suppliers and contractors in the audience saw what was happening. The expensive equipment was

staying put. Dale was bankrupt.

Trying to salvage whatever they could, someone in the crowd shouted, “We can’t take the big equipment out, so grab the small stuff! It’s better than walking away with nothing!”

Chaos erupted.

They rushed into the kitchen and dining hall, grabbing everything portable. When they couldn’t carry a whole

appliance, they stripped copper wiring and brass handles.

Dale watched from the floor, helpless.

In the chaos, someone even took advantage of the fact that he was pinned down and unable to move,

snatching the gold watch right off his wrist.

Even the new model phone from his pocket was stolen.

His entire fortune, dismantled and carried away in front of his eyes.

He lay there, face in the dirt, and screamed at me.

“Jennifer Morrow! What did I ever do to you? Why are you doing this to me?”
