I Canceled The Wedding After His Female Bro Ruined Everything Chapter 06

I Canceled The Wedding After His Female Bro Ruined Everything Chapter 06

That night, the three Coles gathered in the study.

Harold slammed his fist on the desk.

“Idiots! Both of you are idiots!”

He pointed at Sebastian and Margaret. His finger was shaking.

“I told you years ago that Katherine was trouble, but you just had to protect her! And now? The whole city is

laughing at the Cole family!”

Margaret sat to the side, her face tight.

On her phone screen was a grainy video of the wedding.

The headline read:

[Bride Calls Off Arranged Merger Marriage at Altar – Groom’s Female Best Friend Caught Kissing Him]

“What’s the point of saying all this now?”

Margaret took a deep breath, trying to calm the room.

“The priority is damage control. I’ve already told PR to draft a statement. We’ll say Elena felt unwell and left early. Katherine was just being playful with friends-”

“You think everyone’s blind?”

Harold snatched the phone and chucked it right in front of her.

The video auto-played right at the close-up of Katherine kissing Sebastian’s cheek for the third time.

Sebastian stood in the middle of the study, looking sheepish.

“Dad, Mom, the most important thing right now is finding Elena. Let me talk to her and explain-”

Harold let out a cold laugh.

“Explain what? The way you did at the wedding? Say Katherine didn’t know any better? Blame it all on a joke? You think the Hayes family are fools? You told me the Hayes didn’t care about Elena but thought you were a

good match for her. So explain this to me are you blind?”

“Let me make this clear, Sebastian. If the Hayes actually pull their funding, the Cole family won’t survive

three months!”

Before the Coles could come up with a plan, Katherine stepped forward to explain herself.

She posted a video on social media.

Her eyes were red-rimmed, like she had just been crying. Her voice was shaky.

“I was just trying to liven things up. I never thought it would turn into such a big misunderstanding. I’m so, so

sorry to everyone – especially Elena. If me leaving makes things right, then I’ll go.”

Someone sent the video link to their group chat.

The childhood friends all jumped in to comfort her.

[Katherine, don’t be like this. This isn’t your fault!]

[Some people just can’t take a joke and had to make a scene. Who does she think she is?]

[Sebastian, say something! Katherine’s talking about leaving!]

[Elena’s temper is out of control. If she’s like this now, what happens after the wedding? Who’s really the bully

here?]

Sebastian stared at the screen. His knuckles went white.

He hesitated and typed a reply in the group.

[Katherine, don’t be ridiculous. No one wants you to leave. What happened today was a misunderstanding. I’ll

handle it.]

Sebastian was still texting back, trying to comfort Katherine, when Margaret suddenly looked up at him.

“That video online – did the Hayes family leak it?”

Harold frowned. “What are you implying?”

Margaret stood up and started pacing the study.

“It doesn’t matter who leaked it. All we have to do is spread the word that they planned this whole thing. Stir

up the waters, and no one will be watching our son anymore.”

Harold smashed his cup on the floor and pointed a shaking finger at Margaret’s face.

“You idiot. You’re still worried about your son’s reputation? Do you have any idea what happens to this family

if the Hayes pull their funding? And you still can’t see straight?”

He jabbed his finger at her.

“You’re not doing anything from now on. If you try to pull any shady crap behind the scenes, I’ll divorce you

immediately.”

Then he turned to Sebastian.

“Now you go find Elena and apologize. Whether you have to sweet-talk her or beg, just keep her calm. As

long as she agrees to see you, the Hayes won’t go all the way.”

Sebastian walked out of the study with his head down.

The group chat was still celebrating him dodging the bullet. Some were even trying to set him up with

Katherine.

In the past, he would have laughed it off and fired back with a joke.

But this time, standing outside the study door, he just felt lost.

At 2 a.m., Sebastian’s car pulled up outside Elena’s apartment building.

On the sixteenth floor, the living room light was still on.

He sat in the car. His phone screen kept flickering on and off.

The group chat was still flooding with messages defending Katherine.

He scrolled past them and opened his chat with Elena.

The last message was from the afternoon before the wedding.

She had asked him if he wanted to do a rehearsal.

He had been helping Katherine pick out a dress at the time. He hadn’t replied.

Now he scrolled up. He realized that for the past six months, most of their conversations looked like this.

When she told him something, he either replied with one word or pretended not to see it.

But with Katherine, he always answered.

He suddenly thought back to the disaster that was their wedding.

A flicker of guilt surfaced in his chest.

He typed and deleted, typed and deleted, then sent one line.

[Elena, I know you’re hurt. Please see me. Let me apologize in person.]

The message sent. Then a red exclamation mark appeared.

She had blocked him yesterday after she walked out.

Sebastian leaned back in his seat. He felt tired.

He pulled out a cigarette and lit it.

The flame flickered in the dark.

Marcus already knew when Sebastian showed up.

He had been helping me pack for the move.

He glanced down at Sebastian’s car and clicked his tongue.

“It’s one in the morning. He’s parked right under your building. Trying to win you back with pity.”

He raised an eyebrow at me.

I knew he was worried I still had feelings for Sebastian.

But I had seen the truth at the wedding.

So I just glanced out the window.

“There’s nothing between us anymore. Right now, I only have one thought. I want to make them pay for what they did to me.”

Marcus clapped his hands together and grinned.

“That’s my sister. I’ve got your back, no matter what.”
