While He Played Love, I Played War Chapter 06
The examination date: six years ago.Â
The pack doctor’s recommendation: assistedÂ
reproduction.Â
Luna Sienna froze in place. Morgan’s hand slipped from her stomach. Derek stared at the screen likeÂ
it had burned into him.Â
I lifted the microphone.Â
“Luna Sienna,” I said calmly, “you’ve insulted me for six years for being unable to bear children. Today is perfect. Let’s all take a look at who really can’t.”Â
Luna Sienna was the first to react. She rushedÂ
toward me.Â
“Fake! You poisonous woman! You forged theseÂ
reports to harm my son!”Â
Cassie immediately stepped in front of her. “LunaÂ
Sienna, the pack doctor’s signature is on theÂ
report. That cannot be forged.”Â
She slapped Cassie across the face.Â
Cassie didn’t dodge.Â
Everyone in the banquet hall saw it.Â
Logan rushed over to steady his mate. His eyesÂ
were red.Â
“Alpha Derek,” he said hoarsely, “fine, you fired me -but what gives your mother the right to hit myÂ
mate?”Â
Derek didn’t even look at him. He pushed straight toward me, panic written all over his face.Â
“Madison, that report isn’t what it looks like. I gotÂ
better later. I can have children now.”Â
“When did you get better?” I asked.Â
He had no answer.Â
I pulled a new report from my bag.Â
“This is your latest recheck from last month. It still shows azoospermia. You can’t have children.”Â
Derek’s face turned ashen. Morgan took a stepÂ
back.Â
Luna Sienna snapped her head toward her. “TheÂ
child isn’t Derek’s?”Â
Morgan panicked. “No–Luna, listen to me-”Â
Luna Sienna grabbed her arm and yanked herÂ
forward. “Then whose bastard are you carrying?!”Â
Morgan cried out in pain.Â
Derek pulled Luna Sienna away. “Mom! Stop this!”Â
Luna Sienna turned and slapped him hard acrossÂ
the face.Â
“You knew you couldn’t have children—and you stillÂ
brought her here to deceive me?”Â
The sound cracked through the hall.Â
Derek stood frozen, saying nothing.Â
I watched the chaos unfold, something heavyÂ
inside me finally loosening.Â
So he hadn’t been fooled by Morgan at all.Â
He had known everything.Â
He just needed a child.Â
A tool to force me out of my position.Â
The guests left quickly. No one wanted to stay forÂ
the rest of the banquet.Â
Luna Sienna sat in her chair crying. Morgan hadÂ
been driven into a corner, trembling as she wasÂ
scolded.Â
Derek shut off the screen and walked toward me.Â
“Are you satisfied now?” he asked.Â
“Not yet,” I said.Â
He gritted his teeth. “Madison, you’ve destroyedÂ
- me. What do you gain from this?”Â
“You handed me the blade. I just refused to hide itÂ
for you.”Â
“We’ve been bound as mates for ten years.”Â
“When you transferred assets to Morgan, did youÂ
remember we’d already been mates for ten years?”Â
He fell silent.Â
I handed him a document.Â
“Here’s the bond–breaking deal. The pack house goes to me. Half of your pack company dividends go to me. And you publicly admit that the infertileÂ
one… was you.”Â
He let out a cold laugh. “Have you lost your fucking mind?”Â
I nodded. “You don’t have to sign it.”Â
He stared at me. “And if I don’t?”Â
I pulled out my phone and opened a folder.Â
Inside were transfer records–payments toÂ
Morgan, screenshots of him instructing his beta to send her “bonuses,” and proof that he had usedÂ
company and pack funds to pay the downÂ
payment for her new house.Â
Worse still, it wasn’t even something I had foundÂ
myself.Â
Cassie had taken photos from inside the car.Â
Derek often left documents lying around,Â
assuming Logan–an omega–couldn’t read them.Â
Logan couldn’t fully understand them. But CassieÂ
could take pictures.Â
I looked at him.Â
“If you don’t sign, I’ll send all of this to the pack shareholders, allies, and elders.”Â
Derek’s eyes changed. “You wouldn’t dare.”Â
“Try me.”Â
That night, Derek didn’t return to the pack house.Â
Luna Sienna called me many times. I didn’t answerÂ
a single one.Â
Morgan sent a long message, claiming she wasÂ
also a victim.Â
She said Derek had lied to her, telling her he no longer loved me and that our mate bond would be broken soon. She admitted the child wasn’t his-Â
but said Derek knew. He told her that as long asÂ
she cooperated, he would give her money and aÂ
house.Â
She said she was scared now.Â
I replied with only a few words: “You deserve it.”Â
Then she sent another message:Â
“Luna Madison, I can testify for you.”
