No Mark, No Bond, No More Chapter 06

No Mark, No Bond, No More Chapter 06

Dorian had lost track of how many days he’d

camped out at the pack clinic beside Selene.

Bloodshot eyes rimmed his sockets, and coarse

dark stubble sprouted thick across his jawline.

Propped upright in her hospital bed, Selene

frowned at his unkempt appearance before slipping into her usual caring pretense.

You ought to head back to the Alpha house and

rest, Dorian. Gavin can take over watching over me

for a while.”

Dorian’s gaze drifted down to his empty, stagnant

message thread with Aria. He’d almost agreed to

stay put, yet the words died on his tongue. In past fights over Selene, Aria would’ve blown up at him. for abandoning their home, flooding his inbox with

frantic texts demanding answers for his endless

bedside vigils. Now, not a single alert pinged his

phoneshe’d gone unnervingly quiet, leaving a

hollow void thrumming along their incomplete

mating bond.

The fragile tether had shuddered with a sharp cold twinge one night weeks prior, but he’d brushed it off as exhaustion from pulling consecutive

allnighters. He’d never guessed that faint, icy pull

was the bond’s final, fading echo as their unborn

pup slipped away forever. Unease coiled tight in

his gut, spurring his decision to return to the

house at last.

Just as he prepared to leave, Selene latched onto

his forearm.

About my upcoming medical billsShe trailed

off midsentence, letting the unspoken request

hang in the air.

Dorian’s frayed patience frayed further. He pulled

out their shared joint account card to settle her

fees at the billing counter, only for the machine to

reject the payment repeatedly with an

insufficientfunds alert. Confused, he pulled up the

pack banking portal and froze: one hundred

thousand dollarsevery cent of Aria’s personal

share of their savingshad been fully withdrawn

and transferred out.

Panic unlike anything he’d ever known crashed

over him. Without another word to Selene, he

bolted from the clinic and raced toward the Alpha

House behind the wheel. He clung to desperate.

reassurances the whole drive: Aria was only angry,

draining the funds to force him home, waiting to

confront him with tearful accusations just like she

always had.

But when he pushed open the front door, dead

silence greeted him. No warm cooking aromas

lingered in the air, no soft footsteps padded down

hallways, no gentle call of his name echoed

through empty rooms. He flipped on the overhead

lights to find the living room stripped bare of Aria’s

belongings: her favorite ceramic vases, knit throw

blankets, stacked novels, and the plush throw

pillow she kept tucked on the sofa’s corner were

all gone.

Heart hammering against his ribs, he sprinted into

their master bedroom. Her entire wardrobe stood

emptied, her vanity counter wiped clean, with only

the bag of Selene’s soiled silk clothes sitting stark

and out of place in the corner.

His hands shook as he dialed Aria’s cell, met only

by the robotic, flat announcement of a

disconnected number.

This can’t be right”

He stumbled through the entire estatekitchen,

sunroom, study, guest suitessearching every

nook and cranny, yet Aria was truly gone.

Eventually his gaze locked onto a stack of

paperwork resting on the table. Stifflegged, he

crossed the room and lifted the top document, the

(

bold title searing into his line of sight: [Divorce and

BondDissolution Agreement].
