The Luna’s Last Drop Chapter 05

The Luna’s Last Drop Chapter 05

I never shed another tear after that day.

As they wheeled Elena’s body away, I bent down to pick up the two torn air tickets. I smoothed them out gently, wiped off all the stains, and slipped them into my pocket.

Kieran stood a short distance away, hesitating repeatedly before he finally spoke, “Vivian, don’t worry, I’ll take full charge of all funeral arrangements for Elena.”

I didn’t spare him a glance.

My silence seemed to cut into him. “Don’t be like this. Selene was traumatized too. She didn’t mean it.”

“She didn’t mean it, but what about you?” I asked softly.

His face drained of color at once. Faint, feigned sobs drifted over from the end of the hallway. “Kieran, my head hurts so much…”

Kieran turned toward the sound out of instinct.

This time, I felt absolutely nothing. My wolf inside me had died. The bond between us was completely severed.

That night, Selene put on another act. She claimed her heart raced uncontrollably and couldn’t fall asleep without Kieran staying by her side.

The healer found nothing wrong with her body, yet she kept crying nonstop. “Did I still not get enough blood? Am I going to die too, Kieran?”

Kieran grew irritable and massaged his temples.

Scarlett peeked into the room holding a stack of documents, then hurried over to me and held out a pen. “Mom, just sign these papers.”

I looked down and saw a blood donation authorization form alongside a voluntary treatment waiver.

Scarlett tilted her head up, her voice soft and faint. “Selene said if you sign them and give her your blood, she will feel better, and Daddy will stop being angry.”

I stared at her. A dark stain marked her dress, dried blood that belonged to Elena. She hadn’t noticed it, and no one else cared either.

“Scarlett,” I said, “do you know how Aunt Elena died?”

She bit her lip tightly. “She was already sick, she would have died sooner or later. It’s not Selene’s fault.”

I asked again, “What if I die too?”

Scarlett froze on the spot, stumbling over her words.

Just then, a weak moan from Selene came from the next room.

Scarlett’s head snapped toward the sound. Then she shoved the pen into my hand. “Mom, just sign it! Selene is really suffering!”

I fell silent and took the pen.

Kieran walked out of Selene’s room. His expression darkened the instant he saw what I was doing. “Vivian, what are you signing?”

I didn’t answer.

It felt as though I could hear the bell chimes echoing from the Moon Goddess’s sacred palace.

I gripped the pen firmly and wrote down my name slowly and solemnly.

Kieran rushed forward at once, trying to snatch the papers away. “Vivian! Don’t do this!”

I lifted my eyes to meet his gaze, my voice barely audible. “Kieran, I no longer wish to be nothing but a living blood bank. I don’t want to be Scarlett’s mother any longer. I hate you.”

The medical monitor burst out with shrill emergency alarms.

Kieran turned ghastly pale. He slammed his palm hard against the hospital bed, his voice rough and broken. “Save her! If she dies, every single one of you in this room will pay!”

The healer stared at the signed documents, his hands shaking uncontrollably. “Alpha, Luna is fully conscious. This treatment waiver is legally valid, and she refuses all medical intervention.”

Kieran tore the papers into countless shreds. “It’s invalid! I say it’s invalid!”

Pieces of paper fluttered down all around me, and I felt my soul slipping away from my body.

The Moon Goddess’s voice echoed clearly in my mind, “Welcome back, my child.”

Scarlett stood in the doorway still clutching the pen in her hand.

She asked in pure innocence, “Daddy, is Mommy mad again?”

Kieran looked over at her, and his fierce Alpha glare made Scarlett step back in fright.

The last sight I caught was Kieran rushing over to hold me tight, his hands already covered in my fresh blood.

His roar was shattered, filled with utter despair. “Vee! Don’t leave me!”

Yet I could no longer hear a single word he said.
