From Fat Girl to Fated Mate Chapter 10
I hadn’t seen Julian since that track and field meet.Â
We lived in completely different worlds, we’d never run into each other by accident.Â
“Why do you care about him?” He frowned.Â
I pressed my lips together and refused to answer. “Never mind. Forget I asked.”Â
“I know where he is,” Ethan said sharply, his jaw tight. “But why should I tell you?”Â
“Okay.” I looked away. “I have class. You should goÂ
back to yours.”Â
Ethan let out a bitter, loud laugh. “Josie, what am I to you? I go out of my way to pursue you, I treat you well, and all you care about is my cousin?”Â
People around us turned to stare.Â
“Are you serious right now?” I glared at him. “I just asked a simple question. Why are youÂ
overreacting?”Â
“Do you like him?” He lowered his voice, but the heat of a young Alpha’s anger rolled off him.Â
My mouth opened, but no words came out. Heat rushed to my cheeks. I didn’t know how to answer.Â
Ethan’s chest heaved. “Forget it. He’s eight years older than you. It would never work.”Â
I wanted to punch him.Â
But I just rolled my eyes and kept my voice steady.Â
“Who said anything about dating him? Stop making things up.”Â
“So it’s just a crush?” He looked even more annoyed. “What’s so great about Julian anyway? He’s practically ancient. What do you even see inÂ
him?”Â
“Everything!” I shot back. “He’s kind. He’s decent.Â
He never looked down on me when I weighed 180Â
pounds.”Â
“Here’s a newsflash, Ethan. Not every girl wants to throw herself at you. I don’t like you. Not now, notÂ
ever.”Â
His face darkened.Â
His hands hung at his sides, clenched into fists.Â
I stepped back instinctively, bracing myself to beÂ
hit.Â
But he didn’t swing. He just leaned in, his voiceÂ
shaking with barely contained fury. “Fine, Josie.Â
You’ve got guts.”Â
He turned and left, slamming the door on his wayÂ
out.Â
I thought that would be the end of me and Ethan.Â
But on Saturday, he called.Â
“What do you want?” I answered, already annoyed.Â
He swallowed his anger and spoke quietly. “You were looking for Julian, right? I’ll take you to him.”Â
I didn’t trust him. Not one bit. But I wanted to seeÂ
Julian more than I was afraid of Ethan. So I got inÂ
his car.Â
The car pulled up in front of a grand estate. LuxuryÂ
cars lined both sides of the driveway in a longÂ
procession.Â
I was stunned.
