The Unwanted Omega: Claimed by the Shadow Alpha Chapter 06
Ember POV:Â
The facility was built into the side of a mountain. ItÂ
looked like a tomb.Â
Derek stood beside me at the entrance. The wind wasÂ
howling, whipping snow around our legs, but he wasÂ
a furnace of heat. My Mate.Â
“Once you cross this threshold,” the guard said, hisÂ
voice muffled by a tactical mask, “the shieldingÂ
activates. It blocks all electronic signals. It blocks allÂ
GPS. And it blocks all telepathic links.”Â
I looked at the heavy steel door. It was three feetÂ
thick.Â
“It blocks the Pack Link?” I asked.Â
“Completely,” the guard confirmed. “To the outside world, your wolf signature will simply… vanish.”Â
I looked at Derek. His jaw was tight. He didn’t want to let me go, but he respected me too much to stop me.Â
“Fifteen years,” I whispered.Â
“I’ll be waiting,” Derek vowed. He leaned down and kissed my forehead. The sparks were so intense they made my knees weak. “Go. Save the world, my littleÂ
wolf.”Â
I stepped inside.Â
The hydraulic hiss of the door closing was the loudestÂ
sound I had ever heard.Â
Thud.Â
Clank.Â
The moment the seal locked, I felt it.Â
It was like a rubber band inside my chest, one that had been stretched thin for years, suddenly snapped. The connection to the Silver Moon Pack–the faint, nagging hum of Ryker and Axel in the back of myÂ
mind–was gone.Â
Silence. Beautiful, empty silence.Â
Axel POV:Â
The Caribbean sun was hot, but I felt cold.Â
I sat on the white sand of the private beach. WillowÂ
was splashing in the turquoise water, wearing the silkÂ
dress Ember had bought her. She was laughing, butÂ
the sound grated on my nerves. It sounded shrill.Â
“Axel! Come in!” she shrieked. “Take a picture of me!”Â
I lifted my phone. My hand was shaking.Â
Why was I shaking?Â
I looked at the screen. No new messages. No “HappyÂ
Birthday” text from Ember.Â
“She’s just being a brat,” I muttered to myself. “SheÂ
wants us to beg.”Â
Then, it happened.Â
It wasn’t a sound. It was a physical blow.Â
A sharp, tearing pain ripped through the center of myÂ
chest. I gasped, dropping my phone in the sand. IÂ
clutched my sternum, doubling over.Â
“Axel?” Ryker was beside me in a second. He hadÂ
been pacing the beach, agitated all morning.Â
“The link,” I wheezed. “Did you feel that?”Â
Ryker’s eyes were wide, his pupils dilated. His Alpha aura was flaring uncontrollably, making the air smellÂ
like burnt ozone.Â
“It’s gone,” Ryker said, his yoice hollow. “I can’t feelÂ
her. I can’t feel EmberÂ

Usually, the Pack Link gave you a sense of where your pack members were. A low hum of existence. EvenÂ
when we blocked her, the hum was there.Â
Now? Nothing. It was like reaching out into a void.Â
“Is she dead?” I asked, the bile rising in my throat.Â
“No,” Ryker said, closing his eyes and focusing. “If she died, the bond would shatter violently. This… this wasÂ
a severance. A wall.”Â
“Look at me!” Willow yelled from the water. She wasÂ
waving. She hadn’t noticed we were in agony.Â
Ryker looked at her. For the first time in six years, heÂ
didn’t look at her with adoration. He looked at her withÂ
annoyance.Â
“We are going back,” Ryker growled.Â
“What?” I stood up, brushing the sand off. “But we justÂ
got here. Willow will throw a fit.”Â
“I don’t care!” Ryker roared. The Alpha Command slammed into me, making me flinch. “Something is wrong. The Moon Goddess is screaming at me. WeÂ
leave. Now.”Â
Willow ran up to us, pouting. “But want to see theÂ
dolphins!”Â
“Pack your bags, Willow,” Ryker said, turning his back on her. “We are going home.”
