Audrey found herself a man she liked. 

Same one as the past life. 

A young merchant from town. Wore silk clothes, rode a tall horse, took Audrey everywhere. 

Audrey was over the moon. She talked about him 

for days. 

Right before the wedding, she did one thing. 

She walked into the backyard and beckoned to 

Gideon. 

Audrey had a hobby. 

She liked to see what the inside of a living thing 

looked like. 

And after she was done looking, she’d take a 

souvenir.

And Gideon went running to her like she was 

handing out candy. 

A little later, a scream came from underground. 

Then the sound of something scratching at the floor. 

The board leading to the basement cell pushed 

open. 

A paw covered in blood reached out. 

Gideon crawled out of the dark room and 

stretched his hand toward me. 

Those ten claws, the ones that had once been 

beautiful, the ones that had opened me up–were 

gone. 

Just raw, bloody stumps remained. 

Gideon shook as he crawled forward, trying to grab my pant leg with his ruined hands. 

Theron snatched me up before he could get close. 

Gideon didn’t even touch the hem of my clothes. 

He stared at us, two bloody tears running down. his face.

Gideon’s voice came out in a desperate rush, 

scared I’d walk away. “I’ll warm your bed for you. 

You can have my ears. My tail. Anywhere you 

want. I swear, I’ll let you touch me anywhere.” 

I rubbed Theron’s ear and shot back, “You really 

think I want any of that?” 

Gideon’s eyes landed on Theron. 

That wolf had been hurt worse than him. He was 

practically dead back then. 

And now? 

Healthy. Fur shining. Living in my room. 

The glossy coat and that ridiculously handsome 

face proved it to Gideon, Theron had become a 

rare SSS–level bonded servant. 

That should have been his. 

All of it should have been his!!!

He snarled at Theron. “Why did you take what’s 

mine?” 

“If you weren’t here, I’d be living the good life! 

Something like you should have died in that creek.” 

I said flatly, “You think someone else is the reason

Gideon’s eyes went wide. Memories flashed 

through his mind. 

When he looked up again, tears were falling in big 

drops. 

“I’m sorry, Scarlett. I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have 

bit the hand that saved me.” 

His voice shattered. 

“I’ll do anything… ears… tail… they’re all yours…” 

“Please… save me…” 

He heard footsteps behind him. Gideon shook like 

a leaf. His tail tucked between his legs as he tried 

to hide at my feet. 

Audrey walked up. 

“Sorry, Scarlett.” 

She grabbed Gideon’s tail and started dragging 

him back. 

“He made a little mess. I’ll clean it up.” 

Gideon’s screams went sharp and high. He left 

bloody streaks across the floor.
