The Unwanted Passenger Chapter 04

The Unwanted Passenger Chapter 04

Author: Nora Blythe
Ever since I gave Clement my house, my mom and Sue’s attitudes toward me improved by leaps and bounds.
Even Tina took the initiative to invite me to her special occasion.

“Dad, I’m starting school next week. Remember to come.”

I was stunned for a moment.

That was when I realized that she was about to begin her university life. Parents would usually accompany their children for enrolment.

Before, I did many things just so Tina could achieve her dream of going to university. I had looked forward to the day I would send her off to her university.

I nodded. “Sure.”

I had been busy preparing for the divorce and my resignation from my work.

I pulled out my phone and navigated to the calendar. That was when I realized the first day of Tina’s school coincided with the day I was scheduled to leave the country.

Sue saw me staring at my phone and leaned in close. “What are you looking at?”

I turned off the screen and widened the distance between us. “Nothing.”

Sue didn’t pursue the matter. “I see a luggage case in your room. Are you going on a business trip?”

“Yeah.”

Sue opened her mouth, but said nothing.

Ever since that day, there was nothing left between us except silence.

She sighed and changed the subject. “On the first day of Tina’s school, remember to finish up your work on time and don’t be late.”

With that, she turned to walk back into her room.

I heard her call someone.

I knew it was Clement again.

Had they cared a little more for me and paid closer attention, they would have realized that all my belongings in the house were slowly vanishing one by one.

On the first day of Tina’s school, Clement was there too.

The three of them were as close as ever. In fact, Tina looked happier seeing him than me.

When they all got into the car, they didn’t even realize that I stayed right where I was.

This time, as I saw them drive off into the distance, a wave of relief rushed over me. I suddenly got over everything.

I hailed a taxi and went in the opposite direction.

Sue, this is what you asked for.

I don’t want you or Tina anymore.
