The Mafia Princess’s Revenge Chapter 04

The Mafia Princess’s Revenge Chapter 04

Gary jumped like he’d been burned. Rage flashed in his eyes—the rage of a Don being challenged.

“Brianna, say that again. How am I not doing this for you?”

“I’m out there expanding our empire, locking down weapons! When would I even have time to cheat?”

“Divorce? Fine. But you better show proof I cheated!”

Gary was losing control.

I just met his furious gaze in silence, not uttering a single shout.

Shouting matches are pointless when dealing with maniacs from the Costa family.

After a long moment, I spoke evenly.

“Gary, let’s end this clean. After divorce, you can eat whatever you want. Be with whoever. No one will stop you.”

“Impossible!” He gritted his teeth. “Costa family has its rules. Unless—”

I stared at him in shock. “Unless what?”

“Unless you formally announce to all family members that you cheated on me. And you pay back every dollar, every piece of jewelry I ever gave you.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

“You’re disgusting.”

“You only became Donna because you married me. You think you can just walk away? Check your bank account. You’re not leaving the Costa family that easily.”

Gary’s lips slowly curled into a smile.

My heart sank little by little.

He wanted to break me.

He pulled out his phone and called the family Consigliere. “Gather the elders. I’m putting Brianna on trial for adultery and siphoning family funds to support her lover.”

He hung up and smiled coldly.

“Brianna, you forced me to destroy you.”

I stared at the man I’d loved in disbelief.

He thought I was scared.

He leaned back on the couch, legs crossed, lit a cigar. Smoke curled around his face—cold, cruel, the face of a underworld ruler.

“Since we married, you only stood tall in Brooklyn because you’re Costa.”

“What have you ever done for me besides warm my bed? Who do you think you are asking for divorce?”

I looked at his arrogant, disgusting face.

And I smiled.

The temperature in the manor hall dropped sharply.

“You’re still smiling?”

“You lose me, you lose everything. You’ll be a joke in Brooklyn. You’re not scared?”

I just answered softly.

“We’ll see.”

I went to my room, rolled out my suitcase, and headed for the door.

“Stop right there!” Gary shot to his feet and called after me.

“Brianna, I’ll give you one last chance—kneel and apologize. Be the Donna you’re supposed to be.”

“I’ll forget what happened at the party.”

I looked back at him, eyes full of disappointment.

“Gary, you used to be good to me. I thought I’d made the right choice.”

“But the marriage I fought so hard to keep…it was just a joke.”

“We’re done. Completely.”

I didn’t yell. I didn’t beg. I just left.

“You’ll regret this!” he snarled sharply.

I paused at the door. “The one who’ll regret it is you.”

Suddenly, Gary burst into manic, his laughter echoed through the main hall.

“I have money. I have power. I run Brooklyn’s underworld.”

“Me? Regret?”

I smiled faintly and walked out the heavy mansion doors, into Brooklyn’s dark night.

At a safe corner, I took a deep breath.

And I dialed a number I hadn’t called in years.
