My Mother and Husband Both Chose Her Over Me Chapter 11
“Thank you for showing us the truth,” my mother told Dr. Bennett, inclining her head. “But we want this
matter to end here.”
Dr. Bennett’s hands curled into fists. She looked at them as though she could not understand what she was seeing, then struck the desk and released a heavy breath.
They left together, abandoning the files that documented what I had endured.
For the first time in three years, Serena followed Adrian home without needing to hide from me.
“Serena,” Adrian said as soon as they entered. “You told us Noelle fed Milo the mango.”
Serena stiffened.
“But Noelle had already cut her wrist by then. How could she have given him anything?”
“I…”
Adrian fixed his eyes on her. “You gave Milo the mango, didn’t you?
Even now, you haven’t changed.”
Serena dropped to her knees. “I’m sorry.
“I admit I gave him a tiny piece, but it was only a little.”
He stared down at her.
She clutched his pant leg. “I did it because I was afraid you would leave me.”
“Leave you?” he repeated numbly.
“We had a second home together, but you never divorced her. I was terrified you would change your mind one day, and I would have nothing.”
“I didn’t know what else to do.”
Adrian closed his eyes with a bitter smile. “It happened at the hospital too, didn’t it?
“You claimed she pushed you.’
Serena fell silent.
“You kept pushing her toward death, one lie at a time.”
The room went quiet.
‘You frained her, made false accusations, and helped destroy her. Do you understand what you’ve done?” Re
Serena watched him cautiously. “Are you going to call the police?”
He looked at her swollen dyes and closed his own. “You’re Milo’s mother, and you’re carrying another child.
‘How could I have you arrested?”
Relief flooded her face. “Adrian…”
‘But you can’t move in here.”
Her smile vanished. “Why not?”
