My BFF’s “Gift” for My Daughter? She’s Pregnant With MY Husband’s Baby! Chapter 20

My BFF’s “Gift” for My Daughter? She’s Pregnant With MY Husband’s Baby! Chapter 20

Derek didn’t catch me.

Close though. I’d just gotten in the car when he burst through the doors.

He chased after me. Ran until his legs gave out.

Then stood there calling my phone. Over and over.

I didn’t pick up.

Yesterday, we’d already gotten divorced.

I told him: “Let’s have the wedding today, then get remarried tomorrow. Double the luck.”

He bought it. Like an idiot.

Didn’t feel victorious. Just empty.

Lying on that operating table, ready to die-that’s when I heard my therapist’s voice.

During treatment, she’d noticed how dependent I was on Derek. Tried warning me gently.

I hadn’t listened.

But on that table? Her words hit different.

What made me choose life wasn’t wanting to live.

It was knowing I could only fight back if I survived.

That’s why I clawed my way back.

When I opened my eyes and saw Derek’s panicked face, I knew exactly how to destroy him.

He hated that the moon shined on someone else first.

So I’d let the moon shine on him. Briefly.

Then remind him it was never really his.

Then take away even that sliver of light.

My revenge went smooth as hell.

Every time I “remembered” something, I made Derek do things he’d never done with me before.

Watching him struggle to hide the pain? Felt good.

For about a second.

Then I just felt… hollow.

Like someone had ripped open my chest, pulled out my heart, stuffed it with straw.

-hter? She’s Dregnant With My Husband’s Baby!

Didn’t understand why.

Not until Derek ended up hospitalized for gastritis, still whispering my name in his sleep.

Suddenly all of it-the pain, the hate, the love-felt pointless.

Before. Derek could hurt me by cheating because I loved him.

Now? What made me any different?

Both of us just weaponizing love to inflict pain.

Sat there all night. When dawn broke, I looked at his face and felt nothing.

Didn’t love him. Didn’t hate him either.

So I stopped.

But Quinn? Different story.

I reached out to her in secret. Asked if she wanted to bet on spending her whole life with Derek.

She looked at me suspicious as hell:

“I screwed you over twice. Why would you help me?”

I smiled:

“Haven’t I always?”

Something flickered in her eyes. She grinned:

“Olivia. I hate you. I’m jealous as fuck. But you’re still the best person I’ve ever known.”

Took some convincing.

But Quinn bought it. Thought I wanted to use her to escape Derek.

Still thought I was that pathetic girl who could only ask “why.”

So I gave her a parting gift too.

The second I walked out of that venue, I sent a detailed PowerPoint to her parents, relatives, and work email-documenting both times she’d destroyed a friend’s marriage.

Didn’t forget Aaron either. Sent proof of his affair to his boss’s wife.

Whose mother had killed herself after her father cheated. Woman hated cheaters with a passion.

Derek’s parents? All about reputation. Today’s guest list was packed with business partners.

That sex tape would keep them talking for years.

Everyone who’d betrayed me? I hit back.

Finally felt that weight lift off my chest.

When the taxi stopped, I was at the airport. Luggage already shipped ahead.

Going through security, I heard Derek’s voice behind me.

Looking rough. Like he’d been running for hours.

“Olivia. I’ll take whatever punishment you want. Just don’t leave. Please.”

Right there in front of everyone, he dropped to his knees again.

I smiled. Told him his knees were worthless.

Turned around. Kept walking.

Heartbreak might haunt you forever.

But if you love yourself, stay strong-you’ll always have a way forward.

My fiancé Perry died on my birthday. One year later? My best friend Summer died too-Same exact day.

They called me their princess. Now I’m the “Death Princess.”

Five years of guilt eating me alive. If I never celebrated, would they still be breathing?

Then I saw him at my nephew’s school. My dead fiancé. Alive.

“Payton! Hit another kid? No treats!”

The girl yelled: “Dad, you SUCK! He started it!”

Dad?

I froze. The kid’s face-Summer’s eyes. Summer’s pout.

So they faked everything. Got married. Even had a kid?

“Auntie Charlotte! Whatcha looking at?”

Perry turned.

Our eyes met.

Game on, you lying bastards.

I stood there like an idiot.

Should I feel relieved they’re not dead?

Or should I be pissed as fuck they played me like this?

Perry and I grew up together. He asked me out at twenty.

“Babe, everything before this? That was the preview. The rest of our lives? That’s the real movie.”

Day before my birthday, he literally swore:

“Princess, nothing’s ever gonna hurt you. Not on my watch.”

Yeah, right.

He WAS the thing that hurt me.

When did he even stop loving me?

School bell rang. Kids ran off.

Perry walked over. Not even trying to look sorry.

“Princess, you figured it out faster than I thought.”

My stomach dropped. Was this whole thing just… fun for him?
