She Destroyed My Family For Her Lover Chapter 09
Chapter 9 Moving Forward
There was a look of deep hurt in her eyes. She reached out to grab me, but her hand fell limply to her side the next
moment.
“Eric, I swear. I really didn’t know. I’m sorry. I really know I was wrong. I didn’t expect things to turn out this way.
“1
She kept repeating those words, as if she had lost her mind.
Looking at her pitiful act, I only felt disgust.
“Drop the act! Even if you died right in front of me now, I wouldn’t even flinch,” I said. “Or rather, I would applaud and celebrate if you were to actually die in front of me.
“Don’t let me see you again. Although I’m not as rich or powerful as you are now, I’ll keep an eye on you until the moment you fall on hard times. When that happens, I won’t hesitate to put the boot in.”
With that, I turned around, entered the gate, and went upstairs to my home. Not once did I spare another glance at Jessica, who looked as pale as death.
Meanwhile, Jessica stood downstairs like a statue. Her legs seemed rooted to the ground, as though she would remain nailed to my doorstep forever.
I cursed under my breath, wondering when Jessica would finally leave.
The thought of seeing her every day from now on filled me with barely suppressed hatred.
Fortunately, Jessica staggered away early the next morning. In the days that followed, she did not appear in front of me again.
Finally, my life returned to normal.
Third-person POV
Confusion and pain filled Jessica’s heart after she left Eric’s apartment building.
Her mind kept replaying the look of disgust and hatred in Eric’s gaze when he looked at her earlier.
Deep down, she knew that if murder were legal, Eric would have killed her without hesitation the moment she reappeared in front of him.
Jessica’s chest ached so much she could barely straighten her back at this thought.
Even though she knew she owed Eric a lot, she always thought she could make it up to him later.
After all, they had been together for so many years.
Moreover, Eric was soft-hearted. Therefore, she believed he would definitely forgive her.
However, never once did it cross Jessica’s mind that what stood between them was no longer just a moral issue.
Instead, it was two real human lives.
Jessica wished she could disappear from the world.
Neither could she accept that she would never see Eric again for the rest of her life, nor could she accept that their
relationship would just end like this.
After all, her love for Eric had long since become deeply ingrained in her core. Hence, pulling it away would be like making her go through extreme torture.
Thinking of what Eric had just said, Jessica expressionlessly texted her assistant to investigate Callum.
She knew Eric wouldn’t lie in his current situation.
Soon, all the things Callum had done were revealed to her.
It turned out that he was the one who orchestrated Isabella’s kidnapping.
As a matter of fact, he was behind everything she previously thought was Eric’s doing.
Thinking of the so-called “punishments” Eric had suffered, Jessica started shuddering uncontrollably.
Just then, Callum showed up in front of her with Isabella. “Jess, Isabella missed you, so I brought her to see you.”
Jessica looked at them, her eyes darkening.
Eric’s POV
The next time I heard news about Jessica was in the headlines.
She chose to take action against Callum after learning the truth. After cruelly torturing Callum to death, she sent Isabella to her parents and then committed suicide.
She used the same method she used when she threatened to kill herself to stop me from leaving back then, which was cutting her wrists.
Before she died, she left all her assets to me.
As for me, I kept the half that should have belonged to me and donated the other half that belonged to Jessica.
Although I did not know what Jessica was thinking when she decided to die the same way as she had threatened to kill herself back then, I didn’t want to have any more information about her.
She occupied the first half of my life, giving me both love and pain. But thankfully, they were all buried in the past
now.
With half of the inheritance enough for me to live freely and comfortably for the rest of my life, I knew my life would only move forward from here.
