Weight Gain Murder Chapter 07
Mom and Jenny immediately tried to stop me, trying to drag me back to my room and force the neighbors out. By then, everyone understood that something more was going on.
“Linda, what are you hiding from us exactly? Let Shannon speak!”
“That’s right! Don’t be afraid, Shannon! We can call the police if we need to.”
At the mention of the police, both my mom and Jenny panicked. Mom bit her lip as she tried to calm Jenny down
I turned to the confused neighbors and said, “I was just as confused as you until recently. I couldn’t understand why I kept gaining weight no matter what I did. But now… I know.”
Under their stunned gazes, I slowly removed my shirt and exposed two enormous puncture needles on my back. One was red, the other was blue.
“What are those?”
“That’s terrifying!”
The neighbors recoiled in shock while Mom and Jenny lowered their heads.
I took a deep breath. “Every night, Mom and Jenny would come into my room and inject a large dose of drugs through the red puncture. The drugs made my fat cells divide rapidly, so I gained weight extremely fast. That’s why I couldn’t lose weight no matter what I did.”
Everyone gasped. “Why… Why would Linda and Jenny do that?”
I smiled. “They had a reason. The blue puncture is the answer. They didn’t just inject me every night. They also removed fat cells from my body.”
I looked at Mom and Jenny with a cold smile. “Am I right?”
They huddled together on the couch, their faces drained of color. Neither could deny it.
“That was because they could extract a special enzyme from my fat cells that reduces fat. That enzyme is the main ingredient in the soap and pills. In short, she made me gain weight so that Jenny could stay thin. Now, do you understand?”
Jenny charged at me and shoved me, fury blazing in her eyes. “At least make your lies believable! You said Mom and I injected you every day, but who did it while you were at the weight-loss camp? You still gained weight there!
I stared into her eyes. “The night before I left, you and Mom gave me ten times the usual dose. Did you really think I didn’t notice?”
“You’re lying!” Her denial rang hollow.
The neighbors pointed at them and cursed.
“You monsters! You tried to kill Shannon for Jenny. How could a mother favor one child this much?!”
“Does Shannon’s life mean nothing to you? You vicious woman!”
“Call the police! Have them both arrested!”
Someone reached for a phone, but I stopped them.
“Shannon, do you still want to protect them now?”
“They tried to kill you, you know?!”
I knew they wanted me dead. Otherwise, they would not have pushed me to get gastric sleeve surgery so quickly.
The day they suggested it, I called a doctor in the state capital and explained my condition. The doctor said I was not healthy enough for the surgery and faced a high risk of dying from an infection afterward.
That was when I realized that after Jenny’s condition had stabilized, she no longer needed my cells. So, I had lost
all value to them.
That was why I had left the suicide note. I wanted to see how they would react. As expected, they were delighted that I had chosen to die. It spared them from having to keep pressuring me into surgery.
We were both her children. Why had Mom chosen to sacrifice me?
