He Doesn’t Deserve the Perfect Me Chapter 05

On the screen, I was in Soren’s arms.

“Vivian, I’m so happy you said yes. Once my career is stable, we’ll get married!”

Soren slid a ring onto my finger and kissed my hand. “Vivian, when we get married, I’ll buy you the most beautiful diamond ring in the world.”

I glanced at Daisy. Her eyes were huge, and she looked ready to collapse.

The diamond ring on her finger sparkled under the lights.

I smirked. The ring that should have been mine was on her hand.

Soren strode over, his face dark, keeping his voice as low as he could. “Vivian, what are you doing?”

“Giving you a wedding present, of course. Do you like it?”

Before she could respond, the video cut to more footage. Both sets of parents were watching with expressions ranging from shock to fury.

Seven full years. Every moment Soren and I had shared played out on that screen for everyone to see.

There was footage of his confession, of him feeding me breakfast, of him waiting in the rain late into the night just to be the first person to wish me a happy birthday.

Every clip was proof that Soren and I had once loved each other.

The final images showed my lab results, the pregnancy test with its two unmistakable lines, and the paperwork from the procedure.

Daisy rushed over, abandoning all composure, hammering at the keyboard. “Turn it off! Turn it off!”

Soren grabbed her from behind, then glared at me viciously. “Vivian, you’ve gone too far. Did you even think about how Daisy would feel?”

I laughed at the sheer absurdity. “And when you were dating me while marrying her, did you ever think about how I would feel?”

I was shouting now, unleashing every ounce of rage, bitterness, and heartbreak I’d been choking down.

I was the one who’d been hurt, and he had the nerve to question me.

They had already torn me apart. I owed neither of them a shred of consideration.

Soren’s father stormed onto the stage, grabbed Soren by the collar, and slapped him across the face with a crack that echoed through the room.

“Soren, explain yourself! You’ve disgraced the Collier family. A man this irresponsible will never inherit my position!”

Daisy’s mother panicked and pulled Daisy close, her voice shaking with fear. “Daisy, you told me Vivian was jealous of you, that she was the one who interfered. So why have those two been together longer than you?”

Her hands trembled uncontrollably as she spoke. “Dear God, the things I said to Vivian that day… She’ll never let me get away with it…”
I smiled at her. “Mrs. Williams, you haven’t heard the best part yet.”

I fast-forwarded. The screen went black, and Daisy’s voice filled the room. “Vivian, I know all about you and Soren. You’re the Wellman heiress. You have status, a family who adores you, everything you could ever want. You have choices. I don’t. All I want is Soren. Please, just step aside.”

Daisy’s mother staggered back and collapsed onto the floor.

Soren was frozen in place.

I hadn’t meant to record that conversation. I had a habit of filming our dates, often switching on the camera

before Soren arrived.

This had been captured by accident, and it had become the undeniable proof that Daisy was the one who’d come between us.

Now the truth was finally out.

I was not the shameful homewrecker. I had never interfered in Soren and Daisy’s relationship. It was the two of them who had betrayed me.

Every wedding guest stared in shock at the scene unfolding before them. Those who had slandered me now looked at me with guilt.

Unable to answer her mother’s question, Daisy spun toward me and raised her hand to strike.

As her hand came down, I caught her wrist and slapped her hard with my free hand.

“You hit me?” She stared in disbelief. “What gives you the right?”

“Because you stole Soren from me! Because your lies killed my mother!” One slap wasn’t enough. I raised my hand again.

But this time, my palm landed on Soren, who had stepped in front of Daisy.

“Vivian, don’t do this to Daisy. She has her reasons.” The moment the words left his mouth, Daisy ran out crying, her hands covering her face.

“Daisy!” Soren had been about to explain, but the moment Daisy bolted, he chased after her without looking back.

That was the moment the last piece of my heart died. The man I loved had never once chosen me. He claimed he loved me, but all he’d ever given me was pain.

“Soren, I never want to see you again.” I watched him disappear after Daisy, wiped the tears from my face, left the venue, called a car to the airport, and boarded the next flight to Las Vegas.
