No Sloppy Seconds Chapter 09
“Is she really that fucking innocent? Why don’t you see for yourself?”
I stood on the stone steps in my high heels, looking down at Silas sprawled in the dirt with a cold sneer, I threw my phone straight at his face.
On the screen, a leaked video titled The Mafia Godfather’s Absurd Wedding had already blown up the internet.it was sitting comfortably at number one on both the Dark Web and the Syndicate’s internal network.
The video didn’t just expose all the filthy messages in their high-level group chat trash-talking my family—it contained a crystal-clear, encrypted audio clip!
I tapped play. Gia’s sharp, toxic giggle exploded through the quiet air:
“I stole her wedding car on purpose, and that bitch still insists on showing up! You guys wait by the entrance of the hall. The second she gets here, throw acid right in her face! Let’s see how she walks up that altar then!”
A thug’s hesitant voice came through: “Miss Gia, she’s the future Godmother…”
“What are you scared of?! If anyone asks, just say it was an accident!” Gia’s voice was full of malice and reckless confidence. “She’s all alone here. What can she do to me? Silas? He’ll definitely side with me!”
Irrefutable proof!
Silas’s face turned deathly pale in an instant, drained of all color.
He stared at the screen, his bloodshot eyes ready to pop out of his skull.
“No… impossible…” His whole body twitched violently as he trembled. “Gia… Gia wouldn’t do something like this… She wouldn’t even hurt a stray cat…”
“Wouldn’t even hurt a stray cat?” I looked down at him, my eyes filled with pure mockery. “The precious little innocent you risked your life to protect was planning to ruin my face with acid behind your back. Silas, your taste makes me sick.”
This audio clip became the absolute final straw that broke the Valenti family!
The core access keys and armory codes I uploaded to the Dark Web last night had already made every underworld boss in North America hungry for blood.
And this audio gave the Syndicate’s Grand Council the perfect excuse to purge him completely!
Ping!
Notifications exploded on my phone one after another.
The Dark Web’s top wanted list refreshed-to soothe the Moretti family’s rage, the Council stripped Silas of every single Godfather privilege on the spot!
Within thirty short minutes, the Valenti family’s five major armories and dozens of money-laundering routes were torn apart and devoured by hungry rival gangs!
The once untouchable Godfather empire collapsed into dust overnight!
Silas slouched in the mud, watching in pure agony as report after report popped up on his phone, showing his family’s power being carved up to nothing.
His hard-built empire and his self-righteous love completely caved in this exact second!
He crawled toward me in sheer desperation, tears, snot, and mud mixing together as they dripped onto the ground: “Cleo… I don’t understand… I really didn’t know she did all this… I love you, Cleo! Please save me!”
“Love me?” I raised my foot, planted it onto the back of the hand he reached out to me with, and ground my heel down hard. “Your love was giving her the freedom to take my life. Silas, enjoy the rotten fruit you reaped yourself.
I pulled my foot back without giving him another glance, turning around and striding back into the estate gates.
Behind me, the old butler slammed the massive iron gates shut, locking the screaming, sobbing man completely
out.
Back in the second-floor study, I leaned against my chair. My private encrypted terminal suddenly flashed with urgent alerts.
A distress message from an encrypted IP popped up.
It was Gia.
Her panicked texts flooded the screen like a tidal wave:
[Please, Cleo! I know I was wrong! I swear I know I was wrong!]
[Outside assassins have surrounded my safehouse! They’re going to kill me! Silas lost all his territory, his phone won’t go through! You’re the only one who can move the Moretti troops!]
[Save me for Silas’s sake, okay?! If you let me go, I’ll leave North America right now! I will never show my face in front of you again!]
Looking at her pathetic, desperate begging on the screen, a faint smirk curled my lips.
Three years ago, when I was lying in a pool of blood from a miscarriage, begging for help, she hung up my call with that exact same arrogance.
Karma’s a bitch.
I raised my slim fingers and typed out two cold, lifeless words on the screen:
[I can’t.]
I hit send.
The next second, I pressed delete, wiping every trace of her messages forever.
