The Hijacked Marriage Chapter 13

The Hijacked Marriage Chapter 13

After not seeing her for some time, Claire looked far more disheveled than before.

Her hair was a mess, and her clothes were covered in dust. The old polished elegance was gone. I almos’ did not recognize het.

When she saw me, her eyes reddened, and her face filled with grievance

“Nate, do you know how long I searched before I finally found you?

“Nate, I truly know I was wrong this time. I’ve already fired Ryan. I deleted his contact information. I even got divorced from him. I promise I won’t have anything to do with him or Noah ever again.

“Please stop being angry with me. Come back with me and get married, okay? I’ve already chosen the wedding venue, and the wedding outfits are ordered too. All that’s missing is you, the groom…”

When Sophie saw Claire appear, she lowered her head in disappointment and stepped aside to make way for her.

But I pulled Sophie into my arms and said to Claire, “I’m not going back with you. My girlfriend wouldn’t agree to that either.”

Sophie’s eyes widened, stunned and flattered.

Claire, however, looked shocked and refused to believe it.

“Girlfriend?

“Nate, you clearly said you would only ever love me. How can you date someone else?”

Suddenly, Claire seemed to think of something and let out a cold laugh.

“I get it. She’s another actress you hired just to make me angry, isn’t she?

“Nate, I’m not lying to you. I really deleted all of Ryan’s contact information. I deleted our photos too. Please stop being angry with me. During this time without you, I’ve felt like I was going insane!”

As she spoke, Claire took out her phone to prove it to me.

Sure enough, there was no longer any trace of Ryan on it.

In the past, when I asked Claire to delete him, she came up with every excuse not to.

Now she had deleted everything so easily.

Unfortunately, I no longer cared.

I took Sophie’s hand and laced our fingers together.

“Sophie isn’t an actress. She’s my girlfriend, and we really are dating.

“Claire, from the moment you got married to Ryan, you should have known there was no future for us.

When Claire’s gaze landed on Sophie’s hand clasped tightly in mine, her eyes grew even redder.

She still wanted to say something, but her secretary called.

I did not know what was said on the other end, but Claire hurried away.

After that, I did not know whether Claire had finally figured things out, but she stopped bothering me.

The next time I heard about her was a month later.

Apparently, the reason she had rushed back to New York City that day was that her secretary told her Ryan had emptied the company accounts and fled.

By the time Claire got back, Whitmore Group had already gone bankrupt, and she was buried under debt.

During that period, she used new numbers to send me message after message, every line full of regret.

[Nate, I regret it. If I hadn’t favored Ryan so much, I never would have ended up like this.]

[If I could do it over, I would treat you well. Ryan destroyed my entire life…]

I deleted them without reading.

After that, Claire snapped. She found Ryan and blamed him for all her misfortune. Then she carried gasoline into his home, set the place on fire, and died with him in the flames.

With no one left to care for him, Noah was sent to an orphanage.

When news of their deaths reached me, Sophie and I had just gotten married.

From then on, there was one more person in my life whom I loved.

And one more person who loved me in return.
