Warm My Frozen Heart Chapter 04
Author: Quinn Loves Cilantro
I was trembling with rage as I headed straight to Henry’s house.
Henry answered the door in a bathrobe. It looked like he’d just stepped out of the shower.
The moment he saw me, a smug grin appeared on his face.
“Well, Jason. To what do I owe the honor?”
He dramatically covered his mouth and winked at me.
“Did your mother die? Did you come to drag Yvonne back home–
“Ahh!”
Feeling enraged, I grabbed him by the collar and drove my fist into his face.
“You lowlife!”
Henry’s miserable scream quickly drew Yvonne’s attention.
She yanked me away in a panic and ordered her bodyguards to pin me to the ground.
“Jason, you’ve lost your mind!”
Pain shot through every inch of my body, but it wasn’t even a fraction of the agony in my heart.
Fighting back tears, I pointed at Henry, who was already putting on his innocent act, and yelled, “He sent intimate photos of you two to my mom! She’s unconscious in the ICU right now!”
Yvonne froze. She turned to look at Henry sternly.
Henry immediately broke down sobbing. His entire body trembled.
“My phone was stolen. I don’t know who sent them. If Jason’s angry, then let him hit me. I’ll take all the blame.”
As he spoke, he began slapping himself.
Within moments, his face had turned red.
“That’s enough!” Yvonne uttered.
She grabbed his wrist and turned to look at me.
“What’s the point of blaming him like this? He’s with me every day. When would he have had time to harass your mother?”
I forced my trembling body to stay upright and lunged at Henry. “If you’ve got nothing to hide, come to the police station with me.”
“Ahh!”
Henry immediately acted like he was in pain.
Yvonne slapped me across the face.
It felt like time stopped.
I heard a buzzing sound as I slowly turned around to look at her. One side of my face was red and swollen.
Regret flashed briefly in her eyes.
The hand she’d used to slap me curled slightly, but all she did was snort. “If you weren’t so aggressive, I wouldn’t have hit you!
“You’re just jealous. That’s why you’re making up reasons to go after Henry.”
I ignored the taste of blood in my mouth and uttered slowly, “Are you going to let me take him with me or not?”
Yvonne’s voice was ice cold.
“No way.”
My nails dug into my palms. I laughed so hard my eyes nearly watered.
For all these years, whenever her lovers were involved, I was always the one she abandoned.
Over the years, I’d lost my child, my reputation, and my dignity. I’d lost everything.
How many times had I gotten into fights because of her affairs?
Each time that happened, she sided with them. She stopped me, protected them, and let their fists land on my face instead.
Yvonne would stand there and watch as if none of it concerned her. Only after I’d been beaten badly enough to spit blood would she finally panic and halfheartedly scold them.
At this point, I decided I’d had enough of this disgusting relationship.
Yvonne was still lecturing me like she occupied some moral high ground.
“Jason, if you apologize and stop giving me that attitude, maybe I’ll be generous enough to forgive–”
“Let’s get a divorce.” I cut her off coldly. I then pulled out the divorce papers I’d prepared long ago and threw them in her face.
The smile gradually disappeared from Yvonne’s face. She stared mockingly at the documents scattered across the floor.
She then cornered me against the wall.
“I already told you. Playing hard to get doesn’t work on me.”
She looked completely confident. She thought I was still the same Jason who couldn’t live without her.
Suddenly, my phone rang. I looked down and saw that it was a call from Jennifer.
Looking back at Yvonne and the contempt in her eyes, I answered the call.
A sweet voice came through the speaker.
“Honey, how did everything go? I miss you.”
