Warm My Frozen Heart Chapter 03

Warm My Frozen Heart Chapter 03

Author: Quinn Loves Cilantro
The next morning, I was woken up by laughter and playful chatter.
Feeling the onset of a headache, I walked out of the room. At the doorway of the master bedroom, I found Henry practically glued to Yvonne’s side.

“Don’t worry, Yvonne. I’ll make sure to give Jason a proper apology.”

Unlike Henry’s carefree attitude, Yvonne looked preoccupied.

“Stop being childish, and don’t make him angry again.”

“Okay, okay. Can I get a kiss now?”

Henry stood on his tiptoes and kissed her. Yvonne didn’t pull away.

The moment our eyes met, I thoughtfully closed the bedroom door for them.

“Jason!”

Hurried footsteps came from behind me. Yvonne grabbed me by the arm.

The veins at her temple throbbed. She was obviously holding back her anger.

“What exactly was that supposed to mean?”

The question left me confused.

“It didn’t mean anything.”

Her grip tightened. I frowned.

“Have you lost your mind? Let go!”

Instead of letting go, her expression darkened further.

“Are you blind? Didn’t you see him kiss me?”

The words she’d apparently been bottling up for days finally came out.

“Jason, stop pretending to be the perfect husband!

“I’d rather you tell me exactly how unhappy you are than keep staring at me with that look in your eyes!”

Henry’s eyes immediately welled up with tears. He stepped forward timidly and apologized to me.

“Jason, this is all my fault. I was the one who wouldn’t leave her alone. Yvonne had nothing to do with it. Please don’t be mad at her.”

His apology sounded sincere. It was heartfelt and almost as if he hadn’t been the one sending me photos of their intimate moments together. He made it seem like I was the unreasonable one.

I slowly turned to look at Yvonne. Exhaustion filled my eyes.

“What exactly do you want from me?”

Did she want me to fight with her the way I used to, monitor her every move, and become that miserable shell of a person I’d once been?

Yvonne was far too selfish.

Looking at her solemn expression, I suddenly lost all desire to keep pretending.

“Let’s get a divorce.”

The room went dead silent.

I could hear Yvonne clenching her jaw. She suddenly started laughing maniacally.

“Divorce?” She slowly shook her head. “In your dreams!”

She stared at me before sizing me up.

She then burst out laughing. “Jason, I thought you actually had something up your sleeve. Do you think you can threaten me with divorce? You’re barking up the wrong tree!”

With that, she pushed me aside, wrapped an arm around Henry, and stormed out.

I rubbed my bruised wrist. I then washed up and headed to work like nothing had happened.

After that day, Yvonne returned to her old habit of never coming home.

As if determined to provoke me, she kept making headlines with one scandal after another.

The mocking remarks soon returned as well.

“Another day, another cheating rumor. He’s hanging on by a thread. It won’t be long before he’s completely out of the game. Haha!”

“He only got where he is through scheming anyway. Now he’s older and can’t even keep his woman in line. It’s kind of pathetic.”

I pretended not to hear any of it.

I focused on work during office hours.

After work, I went home to Jennifer.

I thought we could keep living peacefully, but Henry just had to target my mom, who was already in poor health.

He sent her intimate photos of himself and Yvonne. The shock was so severe that she collapsed on the spot.
