You Left On The Day The Wind Stopped Blowing Chapter 05

When Lily saw my text message, it was already four in the afternoon.

She buried her face in David’s embrace and said indifferently, “Ben’s throwing a tantrum again.

“I’m going to head back for a while, and I’ll come back here again at night.”

She did not care about what I said. Instead, she seemed to recall something as she laughed.

“Why does he crave love so much?

“He’s always thinking of ways to force me to marry him.”

David rubbed his eyes and hugged Lily.

“You know he’s doing this on purpose, so why are you going back?

“I’m going for a haircut today. I want you to come with me.”

He seemed indifferent, but he was holding Lily tightly to prevent her from leaving.

Lily had no choice, so she smiled at him dotingly.

Finally, she called me.

She wanted to humor me for a while and only go home the next day.

However, she heard a mechanical voice.

[I’m sorry, but the number you’re calling is no longer in service.]

Lily’s smile froze on her face.

She thought she had heard it wrongly, so she kept dialing again.

However, regardless how many times she called, it was futile.

She immediately started to feel uneasy.

She started to wonder if the text message I had sent was true.

Married?

Who was I getting married with?

Was I not simply throwing a fuss to be with her forever?

Lily was confused.

Her body took action subconsciously.

She got off the bed, but David hugged her from behind.

“Where are you going?

“Aren’t you going to accompany me to the haircut?

“Are you really abandoning me over that idiot?”

His voice raised as he questioned her.

Lily had never felt so irritated before.

She roared, “What do you want?

“David, because of your illness, I’ve done many wrong things!

“In order to make you happy, I’ve hurt Ben many times!

“Know your place!”

Lily flung his hand away fiercely and left without any hesitation.

When she reached home, it was completely empty. It seemed as though no one was living there.

“Ben?”

She subconsciously tried to look for me.

However, she almost flipped the whole house upside down, and she still could not locate me.

When she opened my wardrobe, she froze.

None of my clothes were there.

She rushed to the drawer and tried to find proof that I was once here.

Nothing. She could not find anything!

All my IDs had disappeared along with me.

[If you’re interested, you’re welcome to attend my wedding.]

The text message appeared in Lily’s mind.

Was I merely speaking that out of anger, or was it really happening?

She did not dare to think about it.

It was because she had never pictured a life without me.

Suddenly, she recalled my mother who was in the hospital.

She did not give it a second thought and rushed to the hospital.

Because she had never visited her, she did not even know which ward my mother was admitted in.

“Hello! I’m looking for a patient who suffered from a serious stroke!”

The nurse glanced at her impatiently.

“Can you at least give me a name?

“There are many patients with the same diagnosis, how am I going to narrow it down for you?”

Lily was speechless.

Because she favored David and did not pay attention to me, she only knew that I had an ill mother.

She did not bother to visit her at all.

She had spent all of her effort on David.

“Her son is Ben Swift! Can you look it up?”

Lily grabbed the nurse’s sleeve and seemed extremely anxious.

The nurse paused before she recalled something.

“Who are you to Ben?”

“I’m his girlfriend.”

The nurse suddenly laughed when she heard that.

“So you’re that girlfriend who kept spending her time with other men and would not marry Ben?

“I’ve never seen you visit your boyfriend’s mother the whole time she was here.”

The nurse got more agitated as she spoke.

She knew how tired and devastated I was.

Everyone had their partners with them.

I had been alone when I took care of my mother. Sometimes, I would be so tired that I would fall asleep

on the floor.

“Why are you asking now that they’ve transferred out?

“I hope he sees you for who you really are and leaves you!”

Lily could not hear anything anymore.

She repeated one word in her mind.

“Transfer?

“When did it happen?”
