My Son Calls His Father “Alpha” Now Chapter 05

My Son Calls His Father “Alpha” Now Chapter 05

(Bruce’s POV)

An hour earlier.

Fiona was a mess of tears, her fingers clutching Bruce’s sleeve.

“Bruce, what do I do? Tony fell from a tree! He’s bleeding so much, I’m so scared.”

Tony was sobbing uncontrollably. Without thinking, Bruce scooped him up and ran for the pack clinic, calling Avril on his way.

“Avril, tell Leo I’m sorry.”

“Tony’s hurt. I have to get him to the clinic.”

“I don’t know if I can make it by three. If you can’t wait, just head home.”

“Tell Leo I’m so sorry!”

Just like every other time, he didn’t have to explain. He trusted Avril to understand.

He assumed his mate and son would wait for him.

He assumed a simple “I’m sorry” could fix anything.

The pack healer examined Tony quickly.

He just had some scrapes on his knees and elbows, and a minor bump on his forehead. Nothing serious.

The nurse cleaned his wounds, and Tony cried for a moment before quieting down.

“He’ll be fine,” the healer told Bruce. “Just some ointment and a bit of observation.”

Bruce let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding.

He glanced at his phone.

2:27 PM.

Thirty-three minutes until three.

He could still make it.

He turned to leave, but Fiona grabbed his arm.

“Bruce, where are you going?”

Bruce frowned. “I promised Avril and Leo I’d take them to the amusement park today.”

Fiona’s eyes instantly welled with tears.

“But Tony is still crying.”

“The healer said he’s fine.”

“Does that mean he’s really okay? What if it gets infected tonight? What if he has a concussion?”

Tears streamed down her face. “Bruce, I’m just an Omega. I can’t handle this alone.”

In the past, her tears always worked.

He would have immediately put Avril and Leo on the back burner.

He would have told himself, They’re so pitiful. Avril has me, but Fiona has no one. Avril, you’re the Luna. You have to be strong,

But this time, maybe it was the memory of Leo’s quiet “Alpha Bruce” finally lodging in his heart like a shard of ice.

For the first time, he didn’t give in

He looked down at the hand gripping his arm, his voice dangerously low.

“Fiona, I can’t break my promise again today.”

Fiona froze.

She hadn’t expected him to refuse.

The next second, she turned to Tony on the bed.

While Bruce was looking at his phone, she reached out and pinched Tony’s injured arm, hard.

Tony let out a pained wail.

“Daddy Bruce, don’t go!” he cried. “It hurts! I’m scared!”

Bruce looked up, his feet rooted to the spot.

Fiona immediately hugged Tony, her sobs growing louder.

“See, Bruce? He really can’t be without you. His father rejected him, and he’s finally starting to see you as a new dad. If you leave now, you’re just abandoning him all over again.”

Bruce’s brow furrowed.

He looked at Tony, his face red from crying, and then he remembered Leo’s downcast face that morning.

Leo cried, too.

But his son, his heir, never cried so loudly.

He just held it in.

He held it in until he quietly called him “Alpha.”

A sudden tightness seized Bruce’s chest.

He pulled Fiona’s hand away.

“Fiona, Tony has you,” he said.

“But Leo is waiting for me today.”.

Fiona stared at him in disbelief.

“Bruce, you were never like this before. Avril has waited so many times, and it was always fine. She loves you, she’s so understanding. What’s one more time?”

Bruce’s expression hardened.

For the first time, her words grated on him.

So, in Fiona’s eyes, Avril and Leo’s waiting was something to be taken for granted.

Because Avril didn’t cry and scream, it meant she wasn’t in pain.

Because Leo didn’t throw tantrums, it meant he wasn’t important.

Bruce was silent for two seconds. “I made them a promise,” he said. “This time, I have to be there.”

Fiona tried to stop him again, but he had already grabbed his keys.

Before he left, he knelt and stroked Tony’s head.

“Be a good pup. Listen to your mom. Alpha will come see you tomorrow.”

Tony reached for him, crying.

Fiona called out, her eyes red.

“Bruce!”

But for the first time, Bruce didn’t look back. He strode out of the clinic.

Behind him, Fiona’s expression turned to ice.
