My Sister Reborn Took My Groom Chapter 10

My Sister Reborn Took My Groom Chapter 10

The business trip was drawing to a close.

Taking advantage of some downtime, I headed to the largest shopping mall in New York to pick up

some gifts for the family back home.

As I was browsing, a familiar female voice drifted over from nearby.

“Excuse me, bring me all your latest arrivals!”

Arrogant and demanding.

I glanced over and found myself looking right at Yvonne.

Yvonne noticed me at the same moment. She raised her eyebrows. “Shirley? What are you doing

here?”

She knit her brows, scanning my surroundings. Finding me alone, her mind clearly jumped to a wild conclusion, and her expression tightened. “Did you follow Harrison here?”

“What are you trying to pull, Shirley? I’m warning you, I’m his wife now!”

Her eyes were filled with pure hostility.

Following her line of sight, I spotted Harrison standing by the escalators. He was staring intently ahead, completely oblivious to the friction over here.

I found it ridiculous. “I’m here on business. I don’t have the luxury of time to follow anyone around. Stop imagining that everyone is out to steal your man, Yvonne. If you’re paranoid, get professional

help.”

Yvonne blinked in surprise, then let out a sharp scoff. “On business? What, is the Hettlers’ little family mill expanding to New York now?”

I gave a serious nod. “I’ll give it some thought.”

“Pretentious!”

Yvonne choked on her words, rolled her eyes aggressively, and stomped off toward Harrison.

I shrugged, fully intending to leave.

But out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Owen approaching Harrison to chat. My footsteps paused.

Thinking it over, I ultimately decided to offer a word of caution. “You two should keep your guard

up around that Owen.”

In my past life, I had dealt with this exact man.

Owen’s supposed ventures involved masquerading as a major software distributor, fabricating ghost projects, and raising massive amounts of capital. It was essentially a predatory financing

scam.

I had almost fallen for it myself back then, but my habit of conducting rigorous background checks. saved me. The moment I found his financials didn’t hold up under scrutiny, I killed the deal.

Sure enough, it wasn’t long before the whole scheme collapsed, wiping out countless major

investors overnight.

Back then, I personally managed all of Cole Group’s operations and vetted every single partner to eliminate risk. Yet Harrison, convinced of his own corporate genius, credited their survival entirely to his own sharp instincts.

So the moment I saw Owen at the hotel, I put the pieces together.

He was the source of Harrison’s sudden influx of cash.

I had offered the warning out of basic human decency, but Yvonne spun around in a fury and snapped at me. “Enough, Shirley!”

“First you show up in New York, and now you’re slandering Owen. You’re just consumed by jealousy! You hate seeing Harrison capitalize on an opportunity, and you’re sick to your stomach that I’m about to be a billionaire’s wife, so you’re trying to sabotage us, aren’t you?”

Looking at her distorted expression, I let out a dry chuckle. There was no point in explaining

further.

For my dad’s sake, I’d done my part. Whether they listened was entirely up to them. I wasn’t about

to play the saint.

I turned on my heel to leave.

But Yvonne’s expression shifted into a pitiful pout as she looked past my shoulder. “Harrison, look

at Shirley. She’s completely slandering Owen and trying to convince us to pull out of the

partnership.”

I paused, turning back to meet Harrison’s impatient glare.

“Shirley, is this all because Owen made a few casual remarks to you the other day? It’s not like you suffered any actual damage. You really are petty and vindictive.”

“Yvonne, you’re the only one who stays pure-hearted. Let’s go. Owen is hosting us at a five-star restaurant tonight,” Harrison said, his tone dripping with arrogance.

Yvonne nodded happily.

She wrapped her arm snugly around Harrison and tilted her chin up to gloat.

But when she realized I had already walked away, her face instantly darkened.

Catching the reflection of her frustrated expression in a glass storefront, I smirked.

I wasn’t an idiot.

Why would I stay around just to watch her put on a show?
