After the Raft Capsized, the Ice Cold Campus Heartthrob Came Knocking Chapter 09

Huh? When? I had no idea.

Seeing my confusion, disappointment flickered in his eyes. But he still spoke slowly, explaining, “You saved me when we were kids. That little boy locked in the supply room at the day camp. Do you remember?”

Hearing that, it suddenly came back to me.

In elementary school, my grandmother had gotten seriously ill back in her hometown. My parents were swamped, so my dad suggested sending me to a day camp.

My mom wasn’t comfortable with the idea, so she took me to check it out first.

The camp director was extra eager that day, chatting my mom up the whole time.

Seeing them talk nonstop, I got bored and slipped out to explore.

I climbed a big tree in the yard and happened to look through a window, and saw a small boy covered in bruises, curled up in a dark storage room.

I ran straight to my mom and told her. We called the police.

The officers took away all the staff. But no one came to pick up the boy.

I felt so bad for him. I walked over, took his hand, and asked if he wanted to come home with me.

After a long silence, he nodded.

After that incident, my mom absolutely refused to send me to camp. So she convinced my grandmother to move in with us instead.

Suddenly, there was a cute older boy in the house. I was over the moon and chattered at him all day

long.

A few days later, I came home from school, and my mom told me his parents had come back from their business trip and picked him up.

I never saw him again after that.

It all clicked. “So you were that boy.”

Seeing that I remembered, a faint smile crossed Cole’s face. “Yeah. I came looking for you later, but your family had moved. Then I unexpectedly saw you at college, and I recognized you right away.”

Cole told me that back then, he’d thought he was going to die. Then I fell out of the sky and saved

him.

Later, his parents’ business finally took off. They tried desperately to make up for everything with money. But he’d been through too much-nothing could undo it.

As he grew older, his personality stayed cold. He kept people at a distance.

We drove down the mountain together. Cole dropped me off at the entrance of my neighborhood

After hours in the car, I was tired. I thanked him quickly and turned to get out.

But he caught my wrist, his dark eyes fixed on me. “Mia. What you said earlier-did you mean it?”

I was confused. “What?”

Cole leaned in, caging me against the seat with his arms, and met my eyes. “You said you liked me. Did you mean it? Or were you just trying to get under his skin?”

Seeing him so eager for an answer, I couldn’t help laughing.

But I just smiled and didn’t say anything.

His handsome brow furrowed into a deep crease.

I curled my lips into a teasing grin, propped myself up, grabbed his face, and kissed him.

“You’re such an idiot. You’re my boyfriend.”

His eyes went wide. He froze on the spot, red spreading from his ears all the way down his neck.

[AHHHHH! MIA KISSED ME! AND SHE SAID I’M HER BOYFRIEND! OH MY GOD, I’M SO HAPPY I

COULD DIE!]

Hearing that, I burst out laughing again.

How could my boyfriend be this adorable?

Just as I was laughing my head off, Cole leaned in close again, his eyes locked on my lips. His throat

bobbed, and his voice came out hoarse.

“Mia. Can I kiss you?”

His gaze was intense. My face burned. I couldn’t have said no even if I wanted to.

His breathing grew heavy, but he still waited patiently. “Can I?”
