My Heart No Longer Beats for You Chapter 07
I did not dare to look into Sienna’s eyes.
It was a pair of eyes with deep feelings and no regrets. They had once shed tears for days over my death.
I still remember how she met with a car accident while on her way home after attending my funeral. I had no idea if she lived or
died.
She was driving that day.
It pained me to think about it. I looked at her and said, “All right.”
Sienna was still explaining herself when I replied. She did not want to take advantage of my situation and did not need me to promise her anything.
However, she was interrupted by my answer. She was taken aback, and her mind seemed to have gone blank.
My horrible mood suddenly lightened when I saw how adorably silly she looked. I said, “I’ve never considered staying by Daisy’s
side.
“I was just trying to stall for time. It is just my way of stopping a mad woman from going crazy.
“There’s no way I can fight against her. I can only maneuver myself around her.”
After a short pause, I continued, “I do need your help. My teacher hoped I could accept the university’s scholarship to study abroad.
“Even though I gave it up, I was told that the university is willing to give me three months to reconsider.
“I’ve made my decision, but I need someone to help me escape. Also, there’s Sam…”
Sienna and I spoke for a long time. We worked out the perfect plan.
Once I recovered, I would quietly vanish from Daisy’s world.
However, close to the end of our chat, Sienna could not help but ask about the baby. “Can you really… Leave the baby behind?”
I smiled bitterly and said, “She won’t have the baby.”
Sienna frowned. She wanted to talk me out of this but realized it would just be a waste of her breath. She decided not to mention it again.
Over the next few days, Sienna took care of me at the hospital.
Sienna and Daisy both grew up in well-to-do environments, but Daisy never did any physical labor. She had specialized personnel taking care of her daily needs.
She was arrogant, selfish, and only cared about herself, but she would hold herself back only when she was with me.
Sienna was different. She took very good care of me. Even the doctors and nurses praised her for her attentiveness.
The best thing about her was the way she treated others. She was polite and warm. It felt comfortable to spend time with her.
I watched her as she busied herself around. I felt an indescribable regret for what could be.
If it were not for the thesis plagiarism issue, I would have wanted to be with her instead.
The only reason I rejected her was because the Chapmans were a rich and influential family that was out of my reach. I did not dare to take a chance with her.
However, Daisy gave me the courage to take a chance, but I ended up in a mess.
It was a week later when Daisy came to see me.
She had a limited-edition Rolex in her hand as she tried to cajole me, “Look what I brought you, Hubby.”
When I stayed silent, she explained guiltily, “I haven’t been in contact the past few days because my dad locked me up at home.
“He took away my cellphone and said the media have been focused on my wedding. He was afraid someone would see me visiting you at the hospital.
“I begged him for days before he allowed me to see you.”
When I saw her pale face, I laughed sarcastically.
Daisy frowned. She was upset by my reaction.
However, she knew she was in the wrong and tried to sweet-talk me. “Don’t you care about me anymore, Baby?”
I turned on my cell and clicked into a message Corey sent me. I said coldly, “Were you locked up or were you recuperating from the abortion?”
Daisy looked shocked. She quickly grabbed my cell and saw how Corey had been harassing me for the past few days.
Corey sent me clips of how Daisy cried and begged him not to leave her, and how he accompanied her to get the abortion. The
clip showed the entire process.
The most heartbreaking clip was taken on the day Daisy had the abortion.
She was lying weak in bed when the doctor asked if she wanted to look at the baby.
Daisy turned her face away in disgust and said, “Get that dirty thing away from me!”
Her face slowly paled.
She was in a fluster as she turned to look at me. She tried feebly to explain, “My dad said if I didn’t have the abortion, he won’t let me see you again. I had to give up the baby…
“I want to see you. I really just wanted to see you.”
She crouched and leaned down in front of me as I reached my hand out to her. I caressed her cheek and said, “Don’t cry. I believe
you.”
Daisy’s eyes lit up.
I said tenderly to her, “It’s like what you said. I know how you feel about me and how good you have been to me for the past four years. How can I not believe that you love me?”
Daisy grabbed my hand and made a promise to me, “Thank you for believing in me, Eric.
“Our baby might be gone, but I’m in as much pain as you are. Do not worry. We will have another baby in the future.
“Once you and I have recovered, let’s make another baby, all right?
“By the way, I’ve gotten the condo ready for you. I’ve even found someone suitable to take care of you.”
I said, “All right. I’ll get discharged from the hospital today.”
Daisy went off happily to help me settle the documents.
Not long after she left, Corey sent me another message telling me how shameless I was to snitch on him.
He even threatened to destroy my reputation.
Corey has no idea that in this life, the one whose reputation would be destroyed was his.
