Last Life, I Divorced Him and He Became a Billionaire. This Life, I’m Keeping the Billionaire Chapter 02

Two months later, I found out I was pregnant, just as I’d hoped.

When I showed the test results to Hudson, he didn’t seem very happy.

But he wasn’t unhappy either. It was more that he couldn’t bring himself to feel joyful, perhaps because this wasn’t the child of the woman he truly loved.

He forced a smile, “Willow, we’re finally going to be parents.”

I smiled back, “Yeah. If your mom were here, she’d be so happy.”

Hudson and I fell in love in college. He was a computer science major, and not long after we got together, he started his own business.

We hadn’t planned to settle down so soon, but during his junior year, his mother fell ill with a terminal

disease.

The only thing she worried about was that Hudson wasn’t yet married.

To put his mother’s mind at ease before she passed, Hudson proposed to me.

I asked for no money, no house, no car. Our two families just had a meal together, and I married him just like

that.

Not long after the wedding, his mother passed away.

Regret over not being able to care for her became a permanent scar in Hudson’s heart.

At the mention of his mother, his gaze softened.

He reached out and touched my belly, “The company is about to secure funding. Once the money comes in, I’ll buy you houses and bags.”

He patted my shoulder, “I’m sorry I’ve been too busy to look after you lately.”

Hudson was always like this-affectionate, but never truly intimate.

I used to think he saw me more as a friend than a lover.

I thought he was just naturally distant. Then I saw him with Alina: he could be sweet, reckless, and cling to her without a care for the cameras.

Hudson knew how to love. He just didn’t love me that much.

Realizing that, even though I had already braced myself for it, still hurt more than I could bear.

After he left for work, I grabbed my bag and went out.

If I was going to be cast aside sooner or later, I had to secure my future.
