She Jumps Then Wakes Unhurt While Her Family Bleeds Ten Times Worse Chapter 08
With a thud, the window on the first floor of theÂ
villa shattered in an instant.Â
Maisie was drenched. She gripped a gas can inÂ
one hand and a kitchen knife in the other.Â
She stepped over the broken glass and charged into the living room.Â
Gasoline splashed across the carpet, the sharp smell burning the air.Â
“Elowen! Get your ass down here!”Â
I stood in my pajamas at the top of the stairs on the second floor, looking down at her.Â
“What are you doing here?”Â
“To send you to hell!”Â
She lifted the jerry can and began splashing gasoline wildly over the sofa and curtains.Â
At the same time, in the intensive care unit at Millbrook Medical Center, William’s phone rang wildly by his bedside.Â
The exclusive villa surveillance alarm went off.Â
Callum grabbed the phone. One look at the screenÂ
made him jolt upright.Â
“Maisie’s in the house with a knife!”Â
“Move! Go save Elowen, now! If she gets stabbed,Â
we’re all dead!” Nathan threw himself off the hospital bed.Â
“My neck… I can’t move…” William’s face wasÂ
completely drained of color.Â
“It doesn’t matter! If we’re even a second late,Â
we’re all dead!”Â
Margaret yanked the IV out of her hand, tears streaming down her face.Â
The four of them, dragging their crippled bodies,Â
crawled and stumbled out of the ward.Â
Back at the villa, Maisie climbed the stairs step byÂ
step.Â
“You stole everything from me!”Â
“You ruined me! I won’t let you live in peace either!”Â
She raised the boning knife, its tip aimed directlyÂ
at my chest.Â
“You sure about that?” I stood still, not even liftingÂ
a hand.Â
“Stop acting! You think I won’t do it?” MaisieÂ
screamed and lunged at me.Â
The front door of the villa was violently kickedÂ
open. The lock snapped and flew off.Â
“Stop!” Four voices shouted at once.Â
Maisie froze mid–step and turned toward theÂ
entrance.Â
William leaned against the door, clutching his bleeding neck.Â
Margaret’s face was deathly pale. Nathan draggedÂ
his broken arm.Â
Callum had fallen out of his wheelchair and wasÂ
crawling on the floor.Â
“Dad! Mom! Nathan! Callum!” Maisie’s eyes lit up.Â
“You’re here to save me, right? You still love me!”Â
“You monster! Drop the knife!” William coughed,Â
blood staining the corners of his mouth.Â
“Don’t touch her! Please don’t touch her!” CallumÂ
dragged himself forward across the floor towardÂ
the stairs.Â
Maisie’s smile froze. “You’re still protecting her?”Â
“She did this to you! And you’re still protectingÂ
her!”Â
“You don’t get it! If you stab her, we’re the onesÂ
who die!” Nathan broke down, sobbing.Â
Maisie wasn’t listening at all. Her gaze lockedÂ
back onto my chest.Â
“Then just let you all watch!”Â
She tightened her grip on the knife and stabbed.Â
straight at my heart.Â
I opened my arms. I didn’t move.Â
The blade cut through my pajamas and sank intoÂ
my flesh. Cold spread from the wound.Â
It felt like the wind from that rooftop again,Â
slipping under my collar.Â
I lowered my head and looked at the four peopleÂ
collapsed at the doorway, blinking once.Â
That day, I had truly wanted to die. But I didn’t.Â
anymore.Â
The knife went in two inches.Â
“No!” Four screams filled the villa.Â
At the same moment, their chests burst open. NotÂ
wounds, but holes.Â
Huge cavities, far larger than the knife wound.Â
Bones cracked again and again.Â
Blood and tissue spilled from their chests.Â
William didn’t even get a chance to speak beforeÂ
he collapsed stiffly at the floor.Â
Margaret’s chest caved in completely. SheÂ
twitched once and went still.Â
Nathan and Callum rolled in the blood, making wet, broken gurgling sounds in their throats.Â
They lay at the doorway as blood slowly spreadÂ
across the carpet.Â
Maisie looked down at the knife in her hand, thenÂ
at the wound on my chest, which was alreadyÂ
closing.Â
The knife slipped from her fingers and bouncedÂ
twice on the floor.Â
She went still. Completely.
