The Game Character I Raised Was a Powerful Dynasty Heir Chapter 10
After the dinner party, William and I began to see each other more and more often.Â
He would invite me out to dinner, take me to art exhibitions, and sometimes we wouldn’t do anything at all–he would just sit quietly by my side and play video games with me.Â
To be honest, I was a little overwhelmed.Â
The heir to the mighty Shaw Group–the youngÂ
master Shaw, whom everyone in New York’s elite circles both respected and feared–was actually willing to spend time with a down–and–out heiressÂ
who had been abandoned by her family.Â
What was even stranger was that I noticedÂ
William’s expression would shift ever so slightlyÂ
whenever I interacted with his character in theÂ
game.Â
I fed my character cake in the game.Â
The little figure on the screen had really goodÂ
appetite. Its mouth wide open, taking bite afterÂ
bite.Â
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw WilliamÂ
instinctively swallow, his Adam’s apple bobbingÂ
slightly.Â
Another time, I interacted with the character in theÂ
game and chose the “tickle” action, and the littleÂ
character on the screen laughed so hard heÂ
doubled over.Â
William was sitting next to me when he suddenlyÂ
let out a soft chuckle without warning.Â
I looked up at him; he had regained hisÂ
composure, as if nothing had happened just aÂ
moment ago.Â
These coincidences were piling up–so many that I couldn’t ignore them anymore.Â
I started conducting some tests on purpose.Â
In the game, I had the character perform a certain action, then secretly observed William’s reaction.Â
I had the character jump, and William’s shoulders twitched almost imperceptibly.Â
I had the character turn around, and William’s gaze shifted slightly with the movement.Â
I had the character pull a funny face, and theÂ
corner of William’s mouth twitched involuntarily.Â
Now I was absolutely certain there must be someÂ
connection between these two.Â
That afternoon, William received a phone call andÂ
got up to answer it on the balcony.Â
I took this opportunity to say something to the game character.Â
“Lil‘ Beggar, I wish you were real.”Â
The little figure on the screen tilted its head and looked at me, then blinked.Â
Then, a line of text slowly appeared in the dialogÂ
box.Â
[I’ve always been real–I just couldn’t tell you.]Â
My heart suddenly started racing, and my fingers. hovered over the screen just as I was about to ask more questions, when I heard footsteps behindÂ
- me.Â
William was back.Â
I quickly closed the dialog box and pretendedÂ
nothing had happened as I continued browsing through the materials.Â
He sat down next to me and glanced at my phone screen. “Are you chatting with your gameÂ
character? What are you talking about?”Â
“Nothing,” I said, trying to sound calm.Â
William stared into my eyes for a few seconds,Â
then suddenly spoke. “If one day you found yourÂ
video game character standing right in front ofÂ
you, what would you do?”
